98:1
لَمۡ lam Not يَكُنِ yakuni were ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who كَفَرُواْ kafaru disbelieved مِنۡ min from أَهۡلِ ahli (the) People ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ al-kitabi of the Book وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ wal-mush'rikina and the polytheists مُنفَكِّينَ munfakkina to be abandoned حَتَّىٰ hatta until تَأۡتِيَهُمُ tatiyahumu (there) comes to them ٱلۡبَيِّنَةُ al-bayinatu the clear evidence ١
lam yakuni alladhina kafaru min ahli al-kitabi wal-mush'rikina munfakkina hatta tatiyahumu al-bayinatu
— Transliteration
Those who disbelieve from among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) and among Al-Mushrikun, were not going to leave (their disbelief) until there came to them clear evidence

98:2
رَسُولٞ rasulun A Messenger مِّنَ mina from ٱللَّهِ al-lahi Allah يَتۡلُواْ yatlu reciting صُحُفٗا suhufan pages مُّطَهَّرَةٗ mutahharatan purified ٢
rasulun mina al-lahi yatlu suhufan mutahharatan
— Transliteration
A Messenger (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) from Allah, reciting (the Quran) purified pages [purified from Al-Batil (falsehood, etc]

98:3
فِيهَا fiha Wherein كُتُبٞ kutubun (are) writings قَيِّمَةٞ qayyimatun correct ٣
fiha kutubun qayyimatun
— Transliteration
Containing correct and straight laws from Allah

98:4
وَمَا wama And not تَفَرَّقَ tafarraqa became divided ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who أُوتُواْ utu were given ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ al-kitaba the Book إِلَّا illa until مِنۢ min from بَعۡدِ ba'di after مَا ma what جَآءَتۡهُمُ jaathumu came (to) them ٱلۡبَيِّنَةُ al-bayinatu (of) the clear evidence ٤
wama tafarraqa alladhina utu al-kitaba illa min ba'di ma jaathumu al-bayinatu
— Transliteration
And the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) differed not until after there came to them clear evidence. (i.e. Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever was revealed to him

98:5
وَمَآ wama And not أُمِرُوٓاْ umiru they were commanded إِلَّا illa except لِيَعۡبُدُواْ liya'budu to worship ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah مُخۡلِصِينَ mukh'lisina (being) sincere لَهُ lahu to Him ٱلدِّينَ al-dina (in) the religion حُنَفَآءَ hunafaa upright وَيُقِيمُواْ wayuqimu and to establish ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ al-salata the prayer وَيُؤۡتُواْ wayu'tu and to give ٱلزَّكَوٰةَۚ al-zakata the zakah وَذَٰلِكَ wadhalika And that دِينُ dinu (is the) religion ٱلۡقَيِّمَةِ al-qayimati the correct ٥
wama umiru illa liya'budu al-laha mukh'lisina lahu al-dina hunafaa wayuqimu al-salata wayu'tu al-zakata wadhalika dinu al-qayimati
— Transliteration
And they were commanded not, but that they should worship Allah, and worship none but Him Alone (abstaining from ascribing partners to Him), and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and give Zakat: and that is the right religion

98:6
إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who كَفَرُواْ kafaru disbelieve مِنۡ min from أَهۡلِ ahli (the) People ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ al-kitabi (of) the Book وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ wal-mush'rikina and the polytheists فِي fi (will be) in نَارِ nari (the) Fire جَهَنَّمَ jahannama (of) Hell خَٰلِدِينَ khalidina abiding eternally فِيهَآۚ fiha therein أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ulaika Those هُمۡ hum they شَرُّ sharru (are the) worst ٱلۡبَرِيَّةِ al-bariyati (of) the creatures ٦
inna alladhina kafaru min ahli al-kitabi wal-mush'rikina fi nari jahannama khalidina fiha ulaika hum sharru al-bariyati
— Transliteration
Verily, those who disbelieve (in the religion of Islam, the Quran and Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) from among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) and Al-Mushrikun will abide in the Fire of Hell. They are the worst of creatures

98:7
إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who ءَامَنُواْ amanu believe وَعَمِلُواْ wa'amilu and do ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ al-salihati righteous deeds أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ulaika those هُمۡ hum they خَيۡرُ khayru (are the) best ٱلۡبَرِيَّةِ al-bariyati (of) the creatures ٧
inna alladhina amanu wa'amilu al-salihati ulaika hum khayru al-bariyati
— Transliteration
Verily, those who believe [in the Oneness of Allah, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) including all obligations ordered by Islam] and do righteous good deeds, they are the best of creatures

98:8
جَزَآؤُهُمۡ jazauhum Their reward عِندَ inda (is) with رَبِّهِمۡ rabbihim their Lord جَنَّٰتُ jannatu Gardens عَدۡنٖ adnin (of) Eternity تَجۡرِي tajri flow مِن min from تَحۡتِهَا tahtiha underneath them ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ al-anharu the rivers خَٰلِدِينَ khalidina will abide فِيهَآ fiha therein أَبَدٗاۖ abadan forever رَّضِيَ radiya (will be) pleased ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah عَنۡهُمۡ anhum with them وَرَضُواْ waradu and they (will be) pleased عَنۡهُۚ anhu with Him ذَٰلِكَ dhalika That لِمَنۡ liman (is) for whoever خَشِيَ khashiya feared رَبَّهُۥ rabbahu his Lord ٨
jazauhum inda rabbihim jannatu adnin tajri min tahtiha al-anharu khalidina fiha abadan radiya al-lahu anhum waradu anhu dhalika liman khashiya rabbahu
— Transliteration
Their reward with their Lord is 'Adn (Eden) Paradise (Gardens of Eternity), underneath which rivers flow, they will abide therein forever, Allah Well-Pleased with them, and they with Him. That is for him who fears his Lord
