31:1
الٓمٓ alif-lam-meem Alif Lam Meem ١

— Transliteration
Alif-Lam-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings

31:2
تِلۡكَ til'ka These ءَايَٰتُ ayatu (are) Verses ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ al-kitabi (of) the Book ٱلۡحَكِيمِ al-hakimi the Wise ٢
til'ka ayatu al-kitabi al-hakimi
— Transliteration
These are Verses of the Wise Book (the Quran)

31:3
هُدٗى hudan A guidance وَرَحۡمَةٗ warahmatan and a mercy لِّلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ lil'muh'sinina for the gooddoers ٣

— Transliteration
A guide and a mercy for the Muhsinun (good-doers)

31:4
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina Those who يُقِيمُونَ yuqimuna establish ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ al-salata the prayer وَيُؤۡتُونَ wayu'tuna and give ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ al-zakata zakah وَهُم wahum and they بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ bil-akhirati in the Hereafter هُمۡ hum [they] يُوقِنُونَ yuqinuna believe firmly ٤
alladhina yuqimuna al-salata wayu'tuna al-zakata wahum bil-akhirati hum yuqinuna
— Transliteration
Those who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as- Salat) and give Zakat and they have faith in the Hereafter with certainty

31:5
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ulaika Those عَلَىٰ ala (are) on هُدٗى hudan guidance مِّن min from رَّبِّهِمۡۖ rabbihim their Lord وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ wa-ulaika and those هُمُ humu [they] ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ al-muf'lihuna (are) the successful ٥
ulaika ala hudan min rabbihim wa-ulaika humu al-muf'lihuna
— Transliteration
Such are on guidance from their Lord, and such are the successful

31:6
وَمِنَ wamina And of ٱلنَّاسِ al-nasi the mankind مَن man (is he) who يَشۡتَرِي yashtari purchases لَهۡوَ lahwa idle tales ٱلۡحَدِيثِ al-hadithi idle tales لِيُضِلَّ liyudilla to mislead عَن an from سَبِيلِ sabili (the) path ٱللَّهِ al-lahi (of) Allah بِغَيۡرِ bighayri without عِلۡمٖ il'min knowledge وَيَتَّخِذَهَا wayattakhidhaha and takes it هُزُوًاۚ huzuwan (in) ridicule أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ulaika Those لَهُمۡ lahum for them عَذَابٞ adhabun (is) a punishment مُّهِينٞ muhinun humiliating ٦
wamina al-nasi man yashtari lahwa al-hadithi liyudilla an sabili al-lahi bighayri il'min wayattakhidhaha huzuwan ulaika lahum adhabun muhinun
— Transliteration
And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Quran) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire)

31:7
وَإِذَا wa-idha And when تُتۡلَىٰ tut'la are recited عَلَيۡهِ alayhi to him ءَايَٰتُنَا ayatuna Our Verses وَلَّىٰ walla he turns away مُسۡتَكۡبِرٗا mus'takbiran arrogantly كَأَن ka-an as if لَّمۡ lam not يَسۡمَعۡهَا yasma'ha he (had) heard them كَأَنَّ ka-anna as if فِيٓ fi in أُذُنَيۡهِ udhunayhi his ears وَقۡرٗاۖ waqran (is) deafness فَبَشِّرۡهُ fabashir'hu So give him tidings بِعَذَابٍ bi'adhabin of a punishment أَلِيمٍ alimin painful ٧
wa-idha tut'la alayhi ayatuna walla mus'takbiran ka-an lam yasma'ha ka-anna fi udhunayhi waqran fabashir'hu bi'adhabin alimin
— Transliteration
And when Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to such a one, he turns away in pride, as if he heard them not, as if there were deafness in his ear. So announce to him a painful torment

31:8
إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who ءَامَنُواْ amanu believe وَعَمِلُواْ wa'amilu and do ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ al-salihati righteous deeds لَهُمۡ lahum for them جَنَّٰتُ jannatu (are) Gardens ٱلنَّعِيمِ al-na'imi (of) Delight ٨
inna alladhina amanu wa'amilu al-salihati lahum jannatu al-na'imi
— Transliteration
Verily, those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, for them are Gardens of delight (Paradise)

31:9
خَٰلِدِينَ khalidina (To) abide forever فِيهَاۖ fiha in it وَعۡدَ wa'da (The) Promise of Allah ٱللَّهِ al-lahi (The) Promise of Allah حَقّٗاۚ haqqan (is) true وَهُوَ wahuwa And He ٱلۡعَزِيزُ al-'azizu (is) the AllMighty ٱلۡحَكِيمُ al-hakimu the AllWise ٩
khalidina fiha wa'da al-lahi haqqan wahuwa al-'azizu al-hakimu
— Transliteration
To abide therein. It is a Promise of Allah in truth. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise

31:10
خَلَقَ khalaqa He created ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ al-samawati the heavens بِغَيۡرِ bighayri without عَمَدٖ amadin pillars تَرَوۡنَهَاۖ tarawnaha that you see وَأَلۡقَىٰ wa-alqa and has cast فِي fi in ٱلۡأَرۡضِ al-ardi the earth رَوَٰسِيَ rawasiya firm mountains أَن an lest تَمِيدَ tamida it (might) shake بِكُمۡ bikum with you وَبَثَّ wabatha and He dispersed فِيهَا fiha in it مِن min from كُلِّ kulli every دَآبَّةٖۚ dabbatin creature وَأَنزَلۡنَا wa-anzalna And We sent down مِنَ mina from ٱلسَّمَآءِ al-samai the sky مَآءٗ maan water فَأَنۢبَتۡنَا fa-anbatna then We caused to grow فِيهَا fiha therein مِن min of كُلِّ kulli every زَوۡجٖ zawjin kind كَرِيمٍ karimin noble ١٠
khalaqa al-samawati bighayri amadin tarawnaha wa-alqa fi al-ardi rawasiya an tamida bikum wabatha fiha min kulli dabbatin wa-anzalna mina al-samai maan fa-anbatna fiha min kulli zawjin karimin
— Transliteration
He has created the heavens without any pillars, that you see and has set on the earth firm mountains, lest it should shake with you. And He has scattered therein moving (living) creatures of all kinds. And We send down water (rain) from the sky, and We cause (plants) of every goodly kind to grow therein
