47:1
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina Those who كَفَرُواْ kafaru disbelieve وَصَدُّواْ wasaddu and turn away عَن an from سَبِيلِ sabili (the) way of Allah ٱللَّهِ al-lahi (the) way of Allah أَضَلَّ adalla He will cause to be lost أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ a'malahum their deeds ١
alladhina kafaru wasaddu an sabili al-lahi adalla a'malahum
— Transliteration
Those who disbelieve [in the Oneness of Allah, and in the Message of Prophet Muhammad SAW], and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah (Islamic Monotheism), He will render their deeds vain

47:2
وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhina And those who ءَامَنُواْ amanu believe وَعَمِلُواْ wa'amilu and do ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ al-salihati righteous deeds وَءَامَنُواْ waamanu and believe بِمَا bima in what نُزِّلَ nuzzila is revealed عَلَىٰ ala to مُحَمَّدٖ muhammadin Muhammad وَهُوَ wahuwa and it ٱلۡحَقُّ al-haqu (is) the truth مِن min from رَّبِّهِمۡ rabbihim their Lord كَفَّرَ kaffara He will remove عَنۡهُمۡ anhum from them سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمۡ sayyiatihim their misdeeds وَأَصۡلَحَ wa-aslaha and improve بَالَهُمۡ balahum their condition ٢
wa-alladhina amanu wa'amilu al-salihati waamanu bima nuzzila ala muhammadin wahuwa al-haqu min rabbihim kaffara anhum sayyiatihim wa-aslaha balahum
— Transliteration
But those who believe and do righteous good deeds, and believe in that which is sent down to Muhammad (SAW), for it is the truth from their Lord, He will expiate from them their sins, and will make good their state

47:3
ذَٰلِكَ dhalika That بِأَنَّ bi-anna (is) because ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who كَفَرُواْ kafaru disbelieve ٱتَّبَعُواْ ittaba'u follow ٱلۡبَٰطِلَ al-batila falsehood وَأَنَّ wa-anna and that ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who ءَامَنُواْ amanu believe ٱتَّبَعُواْ ittaba'u follow ٱلۡحَقَّ al-haqa (the) truth مِن min from رَّبِّهِمۡۚ rabbihim their Lord كَذَٰلِكَ kadhalika Thus يَضۡرِبُ yadribu Allah presents ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah presents لِلنَّاسِ lilnnasi to the people أَمۡثَٰلَهُمۡ amthalahum their similitudes ٣
dhalika bi-anna alladhina kafaru ittaba'u al-batila wa-anna alladhina amanu ittaba'u al-haqa min rabbihim kadhalika yadribu al-lahu lilnnasi amthalahum
— Transliteration
That is because those who disbelieve follow falsehood, while those who believe follow the truth from their Lord. Thus does Allah set forth their parables for mankind

47:4
فَإِذَا fa-idha So when لَقِيتُمُ laqitumu you meet ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who كَفَرُواْ kafaru disbelieve فَضَرۡبَ fadarba then strike ٱلرِّقَابِ al-riqabi the necks حَتَّىٰٓ hatta until إِذَآ idha when أَثۡخَنتُمُوهُمۡ athkhantumuhum you have subdued them فَشُدُّواْ fashuddu then bind firmly ٱلۡوَثَاقَ al-wathaqa the bond فَإِمَّا fa-imma then either مَنَّۢا mannan a favor بَعۡدُ ba'du afterwards وَإِمَّا wa-imma or فِدَآءً fidaan ransom حَتَّىٰ hatta until تَضَعَ tada'a lays down ٱلۡحَرۡبُ al-harbu the war أَوۡزَارَهَاۚ awzaraha its burdens ذَٰلِكَۖ dhalika That وَلَوۡ walaw And if يَشَآءُ yashau Allah had willed ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah had willed لَٱنتَصَرَ la-intasara surely He could have taken retribution مِنۡهُمۡ min'hum from them وَلَٰكِن walakin but لِّيَبۡلُوَاْ liyabluwa to test بَعۡضَكُم ba'dakum some of you بِبَعۡضٖۗ biba'din with others وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhina And those who قُتِلُواْ qutilu are killed فِي fi in سَبِيلِ sabili (the) way of Allah ٱللَّهِ al-lahi (the) way of Allah فَلَن falan then never يُضِلَّ yudilla He will cause to be lost أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ a'malahum their deeds ٤
fa-idha laqitumu alladhina kafaru fadarba al-riqabi hatta idha athkhantumuhum fashuddu al-wathaqa fa-imma mannan ba'du wa-imma fidaan hatta tada'a al-harbu awzaraha dhalika walaw yashau al-lahu la-intasara min'hum walakin liyabluwa ba'dakum biba'din wa-alladhina qutilu fi sabili al-lahi falan yudilla a'malahum
— Transliteration
So, when you meet (in fight Jihad in Allah's Cause), those who disbelieve smite at their necks till when you have killed and wounded many of them, then bind a bond firmly (on them, i.e. take them as captives). Thereafter (is the time) either for generosity (i.e. free them without ransom), or ransom (according to what benefits Islam), until the war lays down its burden. Thus [you are ordered by Allah to continue in carrying out Jihad against the disbelievers till they embrace Islam (i.e. are saved from the punishment in the Hell-fire) or at least come under your protection], but if it had been Allah's Will, He Himself could certainly have punished them (without you). But (He lets you fight), in order to test you, some with others. But those who are killed in the Way of Allah, He will never let their deeds be lost

47:5
سَيَهۡدِيهِمۡ sayahdihim He will guide them وَيُصۡلِحُ wayus'lihu and improve بَالَهُمۡ balahum their condition ٥
sayahdihim wayus'lihu balahum
— Transliteration
He will guide them and set right their state

47:6
وَيُدۡخِلُهُمُ wayud'khiluhumu And admit them ٱلۡجَنَّةَ al-janata (to) Paradise عَرَّفَهَا arrafaha He has made it known لَهُمۡ lahum to them ٦
wayud'khiluhumu al-janata arrafaha lahum
— Transliteration
And admit them to Paradise which He has made known to them (i.e. they will know their places in Paradise more than they used to know their houses in the world)

47:7
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuha O you who believe! ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina O you who believe! ءَامَنُوٓاْ amanu O you who believe! إِن in If تَنصُرُواْ tansuru you help ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah يَنصُرۡكُمۡ yansur'kum He will help you وَيُثَبِّتۡ wayuthabbit and make firm أَقۡدَامَكُمۡ aqdamakum your feet ٧
yaayyuha alladhina amanu in tansuru al-laha yansur'kum wayuthabbit aqdamakum
— Transliteration
O you who believe! If you help (in the cause of) Allah, He will help you, and make your foothold firm

47:8
وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhina But those who كَفَرُواْ kafaru disbelieve فَتَعۡسٗا fata'san destruction (is) لَّهُمۡ lahum for them وَأَضَلَّ wa-adalla and He will cause to be lost أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ a'malahum their deeds ٨
wa-alladhina kafaru fata'san lahum wa-adalla a'malahum
— Transliteration
But those who disbelieve (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), for them is destruction, and (Allah) will make their deeds vain

47:9
ذَٰلِكَ dhalika That بِأَنَّهُمۡ bi-annahum (is) because they كَرِهُواْ karihu hate مَآ ma what أَنزَلَ anzala Allah has revealed ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah has revealed فَأَحۡبَطَ fa-ahbata so He has made worthless أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ a'malahum their deeds ٩
dhalika bi-annahum karihu ma anzala al-lahu fa-ahbata a'malahum
— Transliteration
That is because they hate that which Allah has sent down (this Quran and Islamic laws, etc.), so He has made their deeds fruitless

47:10
۞أَفَلَمۡ afalam Do not يَسِيرُواْ yasiru they travel فِي fi in ٱلۡأَرۡضِ al-ardi the earth فَيَنظُرُواْ fayanzuru and see كَيۡفَ kayfa how كَانَ kana was عَٰقِبَةُ aqibatu (the) end ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina (of) those مِن min before them? قَبۡلِهِمۡۖ qablihim before them? دَمَّرَ dammara Allah destroyed ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah destroyed عَلَيۡهِمۡۖ alayhim [over] them وَلِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ walil'kafirina and for the disbelievers أَمۡثَٰلُهَا amthaluha its likeness ١٠
afalam yasiru fi al-ardi fayanzuru kayfa kana aqibatu alladhina min qablihim dammara al-lahu alayhim walil'kafirina amthaluha
— Transliteration
Have they not travelled through the earth, and seen what was the end of those before them? Allah destroyed them completely and a similar (fate awaits) the disbelievers
