49:1
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuha O you who believe! ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina O you who believe! ءَامَنُواْ amanu O you who believe! لَا la (Do) not تُقَدِّمُواْ tuqaddimu put (yourselves) forward بَيۡنَ bayna before Allah يَدَيِ yadayi before Allah ٱللَّهِ al-lahi before Allah وَرَسُولِهِۦۖ warasulihi and His Messenger وَٱتَّقُواْ wa-ittaqu and fear Allah ٱللَّهَۚ al-laha and fear Allah إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah سَمِيعٌ sami'un (is) AllHearer عَلِيمٞ alimun AllKnower ١
yaayyuha alladhina amanu la tuqaddimu bayna yadayi al-lahi warasulihi wa-ittaqu al-laha inna al-laha sami'un alimun
— Transliteration
O you who believe! Do not put (yourselves) forward before Allah and His Messenger (SAW), and fear Allah. Verily! Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing

49:2
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuha O you who believe! ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina O you who believe! ءَامَنُواْ amanu O you who believe! لَا la (Do) not تَرۡفَعُوٓاْ tarfa'u raise أَصۡوَٰتَكُمۡ aswatakum your voices فَوۡقَ fawqa above صَوۡتِ sawti (the) voice ٱلنَّبِيِّ al-nabiyi (of) the Prophet وَلَا wala and (do) not تَجۡهَرُواْ tajharu be loud لَهُۥ lahu to him بِٱلۡقَوۡلِ bil-qawli in speech كَجَهۡرِ kajahri like (the) loudness بَعۡضِكُمۡ ba'dikum (of) some of you لِبَعۡضٍ liba'din to others أَن an lest تَحۡبَطَ tahbata become worthless أَعۡمَٰلُكُمۡ a'malukum your deeds وَأَنتُمۡ wa-antum while you لَا la (do) not تَشۡعُرُونَ tash'uruna perceive ٢
yaayyuha alladhina amanu la tarfa'u aswatakum fawqa sawti al-nabiyi wala tajharu lahu bil-qawli kajahri ba'dikum liba'din an tahbata a'malukum wa-antum la tash'uruna
— Transliteration
O you who believe! Raise not your voices above the voice of the Prophet (SAW), nor speak aloud to him in talk as you speak aloud to one another, lest your deeds may be rendered fruitless while you perceive not

49:3
إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who يَغُضُّونَ yaghudduna lower أَصۡوَٰتَهُمۡ aswatahum their voices عِندَ inda (in) presence رَسُولِ rasuli (of the) Messenger of Allah ٱللَّهِ al-lahi (of the) Messenger of Allah أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ulaika those ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina (are) the ones ٱمۡتَحَنَ im'tahana Allah has tested ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah has tested قُلُوبَهُمۡ qulubahum their hearts لِلتَّقۡوَىٰۚ lilttaqwa for righteousness لَهُم lahum For them مَّغۡفِرَةٞ maghfiratun (is) forgiveness وَأَجۡرٌ wa-ajrun and a reward عَظِيمٌ azimun great ٣
inna alladhina yaghudduna aswatahum inda rasuli al-lahi ulaika alladhina im'tahana al-lahu qulubahum lilttaqwa lahum maghfiratun wa-ajrun azimun
— Transliteration
Verily! Those who lower their voices in the presence of Allah's Messenger (SAW), they are the ones whose hearts Allah has tested for piety. For them is forgiveness and a great reward

49:4
إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who يُنَادُونَكَ yunadunaka call you مِن min from وَرَآءِ warai behind ٱلۡحُجُرَٰتِ al-hujurati the private chambers أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ aktharuhum most of them لَا la (do) not يَعۡقِلُونَ ya'qiluna understand ٤
inna alladhina yunadunaka min warai al-hujurati aktharuhum la ya'qiluna
— Transliteration
Verily! Those who call you from behind the dwellings, most of them have no sense

49:5
وَلَوۡ walaw And if أَنَّهُمۡ annahum they صَبَرُواْ sabaru had been patient حَتَّىٰ hatta until تَخۡرُجَ takhruja you came out إِلَيۡهِمۡ ilayhim to them لَكَانَ lakana certainly it would be خَيۡرٗا khayran better لَّهُمۡۚ lahum for them وَٱللَّهُ wal-lahu And Allah غَفُورٞ ghafurun (is) OftForgiving رَّحِيمٞ rahimun Most Merciful ٥
walaw annahum sabaru hatta takhruja ilayhim lakana khayran lahum wal-lahu ghafurun rahimun
— Transliteration
And if they had patience till you could come out to them, it would have been better for them. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful

49:6
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuha O you who believe! ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina O you who believe! ءَامَنُوٓاْ amanu O you who believe! إِن in If جَآءَكُمۡ jaakum comes to you فَاسِقُۢ fasiqun a wicked person بِنَبَإٖ binaba-in with information فَتَبَيَّنُوٓاْ fatabayyanu investigate أَن an lest تُصِيبُواْ tusibu you harm قَوۡمَۢا qawman a people بِجَهَٰلَةٖ bijahalatin in ignorance فَتُصۡبِحُواْ fatus'bihu then you become عَلَىٰ ala over مَا ma what فَعَلۡتُمۡ fa'altum you have done نَٰدِمِينَ nadimina regretful ٦
yaayyuha alladhina amanu in jaakum fasiqun binaba-in fatabayyanu an tusibu qawman bijahalatin fatus'bihu ala ma fa'altum nadimina
— Transliteration
O you who believe! If a rebellious evil person comes to you with a news, verify it, lest you harm people in ignorance, and afterwards you become regretful to what you have done

49:7
وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ wa-i'lamu And know أَنَّ anna that فِيكُمۡ fikum among you رَسُولَ rasula (is the) Messenger of Allah ٱللَّهِۚ al-lahi (is the) Messenger of Allah لَوۡ law If يُطِيعُكُمۡ yuti'ukum he were to obey you فِي fi in كَثِيرٖ kathirin much مِّنَ mina of ٱلۡأَمۡرِ al-amri the matter لَعَنِتُّمۡ la'anittum surely you would be in difficulty وَلَٰكِنَّ walakinna but ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah حَبَّبَ habbaba has endeared إِلَيۡكُمُ ilaykumu to you ٱلۡإِيمَٰنَ al-imana the Faith وَزَيَّنَهُۥ wazayyanahu and has made it pleasing فِي fi in قُلُوبِكُمۡ qulubikum your hearts وَكَرَّهَ wakarraha and has made hateful إِلَيۡكُمُ ilaykumu to you ٱلۡكُفۡرَ al-kuf'ra disbelief وَٱلۡفُسُوقَ wal-fusuqa and defiance وَٱلۡعِصۡيَانَۚ wal-'is'yana and disobedience أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ulaika Those هُمُ humu (are) they ٱلرَّٰشِدُونَ al-rashiduna the guided ones ٧
wa-i'lamu anna fikum rasula al-lahi law yuti'ukum fi kathirin mina al-amri la'anittum walakinna al-laha habbaba ilaykumu al-imana wazayyanahu fi qulubikum wakarraha ilaykumu al-kuf'ra wal-fusuqa wal-'is'yana ulaika humu al-rashiduna
— Transliteration
And know that, among you there is the Messenger of Allah (SAW). If he were to obey you (i.e. follow your opinions and desires) in much of the matter, you would surely be in trouble, but Allah has endeared the Faith to you and has beautified it in your hearts, and has made disbelief, wickedness and disobedience (to Allah and His Messenger SAW) hateful to you. These! They are the rightly guided ones

49:8
فَضۡلٗا fadlan A Bounty مِّنَ mina from Allah ٱللَّهِ al-lahi from Allah وَنِعۡمَةٗۚ wani'matan and favor وَٱللَّهُ wal-lahu And Allah عَلِيمٌ alimun (is) AllKnower حَكِيمٞ hakimun AllWise ٨
fadlan mina al-lahi wani'matan wal-lahu alimun hakimun
— Transliteration
(This is) a Grace from Allah and His Favour. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise

49:9
وَإِن wa-in And if طَآئِفَتَانِ taifatani two parties مِنَ mina among ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ al-mu'minina the believers ٱقۡتَتَلُواْ iq'tatalu fight فَأَصۡلِحُواْ fa-aslihu then make peace بَيۡنَهُمَاۖ baynahuma between both of them فَإِنۢ fa-in But if بَغَتۡ baghat oppresses إِحۡدَىٰهُمَا ih'dahuma one of them عَلَى ala on ٱلۡأُخۡرَىٰ al-ukh'ra the other فَقَٰتِلُواْ faqatilu then fight ٱلَّتِي allati one which تَبۡغِي tabghi oppresses حَتَّىٰ hatta until تَفِيٓءَ tafia it returns إِلَىٰٓ ila to أَمۡرِ amri (the) command ٱللَّهِۚ al-lahi (of) Allah فَإِن fa-in Then if فَآءَتۡ faat it returns فَأَصۡلِحُواْ fa-aslihu then make peace بَيۡنَهُمَا baynahuma between them بِٱلۡعَدۡلِ bil-'adli with justice وَأَقۡسِطُوٓاْۖ wa-aqsitu and act justly إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah يُحِبُّ yuhibbu loves ٱلۡمُقۡسِطِينَ al-muq'sitina those who act justly ٩
wa-in taifatani mina al-mu'minina iq'tatalu fa-aslihu baynahuma fa-in baghat ih'dahuma ala al-ukh'ra faqatilu allati tabghi hatta tafia ila amri al-lahi fa-in faat fa-aslihu baynahuma bil-'adli wa-aqsitu inna al-laha yuhibbu al-muq'sitina
— Transliteration
And if two parties or groups among the believers fall to fighting, then make peace between them both, but if one of them rebels against the other, then fight you (all) against the one that which rebels till it complies with the Command of Allah; then if it complies, then make reconciliation between them justly, and be equitable. Verily! Allah loves those who are equitable

49:10
إِنَّمَا innama Only ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ al-mu'minuna the believers إِخۡوَةٞ ikh'watun (are) brothers فَأَصۡلِحُواْ fa-aslihu so make peace بَيۡنَ bayna between أَخَوَيۡكُمۡۚ akhawaykum your brothers وَٱتَّقُواْ wa-ittaqu and fear Allah ٱللَّهَ al-laha and fear Allah لَعَلَّكُمۡ la'allakum so that you may تُرۡحَمُونَ tur'hamuna receive mercy ١٠
innama al-mu'minuna ikh'watun fa-aslihu bayna akhawaykum wa-ittaqu al-laha la'allakum tur'hamuna
— Transliteration
The believers are nothing else than brothers (in Islamic religion). So make reconciliation between your brothers, and fear Allah, that you may receive mercy
