71:1
إِنَّآinnaIndeed Weأَرۡسَلۡنَاarsalna[We] sentنُوحًاnuhanNuhإِلَىٰilatoقَوۡمِهِۦٓqawmihihis peopleأَنۡanthatأَنذِرۡandhirWarnقَوۡمَكَqawmakayour peopleمِنminfromقَبۡلِqablibeforeأَنan[that]يَأۡتِيَهُمۡyatiyahumcomes to themعَذَابٌadhabuna punishmentأَلِيمٞalimunpainful١
inna arsalna nuhan ila qawmihi an andhir qawmaka min qabli an yatiyahum adhabun alimun — Transliteration
Verily, We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people (Saying): "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torment — English - Hilali & Khan
71:2
قَالَqalaHe saidيَٰقَوۡمِyaqawmiO my people!إِنِّيinniIndeed I amلَكُمۡlakumto youنَذِيرٞnadhiruna warnerمُّبِينٌmubinunclear٢
qala yaqawmi inni lakum nadhirun mubinun — Transliteration
He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you — English - Hilali & Khan
71:3
أَنِaniThatٱعۡبُدُواْu'buduWorshipٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahوَٱتَّقُوهُwa-ittaquhuand fear Himوَأَطِيعُونِwa-ati'uniand obey me٣
ani u'budu al-laha wa-ittaquhu wa-ati'uni — Transliteration
That you should worship Allah (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me — English - Hilali & Khan
71:4
يَغۡفِرۡyaghfirHe will forgiveلَكُمlakumfor youمِّنmin[of]ذُنُوبِكُمۡdhunubikumyour sinsوَيُؤَخِّرۡكُمۡwayu-akhir'kumand give you respiteإِلَىٰٓilaforأَجَلٖajalina termمُّسَمًّىۚmusammanspecifiedإِنَّinnaIndeedأَجَلَajala(the) termٱللَّهِal-lahi(of) Allahإِذَاidhawhenجَآءَjaait comesلَاlanotيُؤَخَّرُۚyu-akharuis delayedلَوۡlawifكُنتُمۡkuntumyouتَعۡلَمُونَta'lamunaknow٤
yaghfir lakum min dhunubikum wayu-akhir'kum ila ajalin musamman inna ajala al-lahi idha jaa la yu-akharu law kuntum ta'lamuna — Transliteration
He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allah when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew — English - Hilali & Khan
qala rabbi inni da'awtu qawmi laylan wanaharan — Transliteration
He said: "O my Lord! Verily, I have called my people night and day (i.e. secretly and openly to accept the doctrine of Islamic Monotheism) — English - Hilali & Khan
falam yazid'hum du'ai illa firaran — Transliteration
But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth) — English - Hilali & Khan
71:7
وَإِنِّيwa-inniAnd indeed Iكُلَّمَاkullamaevery timeدَعَوۡتُهُمۡda'awtuhumI invited themلِتَغۡفِرَlitaghfirathat You may forgiveلَهُمۡlahumthemجَعَلُوٓاْja'aluthey putأَصَٰبِعَهُمۡasabi'ahumtheir fingersفِيٓfiinءَاذَانِهِمۡadhanihimtheir earsوَٱسۡتَغۡشَوۡاْwa-is'taghshawand covered themselvesثِيَابَهُمۡthiyabahum(with) their garmentsوَأَصَرُّواْwa-asarruand persistedوَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْwa-is'takbaruand were arrogantٱسۡتِكۡبَارٗاis'tik'baran(with) pride٧
And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride — English - Hilali & Khan
Then verily, I called to them openly (aloud) — English - Hilali & Khan
71:9
ثُمَّthummaThenإِنِّيٓinniindeed Iأَعۡلَنتُa'lantuannouncedلَهُمۡlahumto themوَأَسۡرَرۡتُwa-asrartuand I confidedلَهُمۡlahumto themإِسۡرَارٗاis'raransecretly٩
thumma inni a'lantu lahum wa-asrartu lahum is'raran — Transliteration
Then verily, I proclaimed to them in public, and I have appealed to them in private — English - Hilali & Khan
71:10
فَقُلۡتُfaqul'tuThen I saidٱسۡتَغۡفِرُواْis'taghfiruAsk forgivenessرَبَّكُمۡrabbakum(from) your LordإِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed HeكَانَkanaisغَفَّارٗاghaffaranOftForgiving١٠
faqul'tu is'taghfiru rabbakum innahu kana ghaffaran — Transliteration
I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving — English - Hilali & Khan
