73:1
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuha O you ٱلۡمُزَّمِّلُ al-muzamilu who wraps himself! ١
yaayyuha al-muzamilu
— Transliteration
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)

73:2
قُمِ qumi Stand ٱلَّيۡلَ al-layla (in) the night إِلَّا illa except قَلِيلٗا qalilan a little ٢
qumi al-layla illa qalilan
— Transliteration
Stand (to pray) all night, except a little

73:3
نِّصۡفَهُۥٓ nis'fahu Half of it أَوِ awi or ٱنقُصۡ unqus lessen مِنۡهُ min'hu from it قَلِيلًا qalilan a little ٣
nis'fahu awi unqus min'hu qalilan
— Transliteration
Half of it, or a little less than that

73:4
أَوۡ aw Or زِدۡ zid add عَلَيۡهِ alayhi to it وَرَتِّلِ warattili and recite ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ al-qur'ana the Quran تَرۡتِيلًا tartilan (with) measured rhythmic recitation ٤
aw zid alayhi warattili al-qur'ana tartilan
— Transliteration
Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style

73:5
إِنَّا inna Indeed We سَنُلۡقِي sanul'qi will cast عَلَيۡكَ alayka upon you قَوۡلٗا qawlan a Word ثَقِيلًا thaqilan heavy ٥
inna sanul'qi alayka qawlan thaqilan
— Transliteration
Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc)

73:6
إِنَّ inna Indeed نَاشِئَةَ nashi-ata (the) rising ٱلَّيۡلِ al-layli (at) the night هِيَ hiya it أَشَدُّ ashaddu (is) very hard وَطۡـٔٗا watan and most potent وَأَقۡوَمُ wa-aqwamu and more suitable قِيلًا qilan (for) Word ٦
inna nashi-ata al-layli hiya ashaddu watan wa-aqwamu qilan
— Transliteration
Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah)

73:7
إِنَّ inna Indeed لَكَ laka for you فِي fi in ٱلنَّهَارِ al-nahari the day سَبۡحٗا sabhan (is) occupation طَوِيلٗا tawilan prolonged ٧
inna laka fi al-nahari sabhan tawilan
— Transliteration
Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties

73:8
وَٱذۡكُرِ wa-udh'kuri And remember ٱسۡمَ is'ma (the) name رَبِّكَ rabbika (of) your Lord وَتَبَتَّلۡ watabattal and devote yourself إِلَيۡهِ ilayhi to Him تَبۡتِيلٗا tabtilan (with) devotion ٨
wa-udh'kuri is'ma rabbika watabattal ilayhi tabtilan
— Transliteration
And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion

73:9
رَّبُّ rabbu (The) Lord ٱلۡمَشۡرِقِ al-mashriqi (of) the east وَٱلۡمَغۡرِبِ wal-maghribi and the west لَآ la (there is) no إِلَٰهَ ilaha god إِلَّا illa except هُوَ huwa Him فَٱتَّخِذۡهُ fa-ittakhidh'hu so take Him وَكِيلٗا wakilan (as) Disposer of Affairs ٩
rabbu al-mashriqi wal-maghribi la ilaha illa huwa fa-ittakhidh'hu wakilan
— Transliteration
(He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs)

73:10
وَٱصۡبِرۡ wa-is'bir And be patient عَلَىٰ ala over مَا ma what يَقُولُونَ yaquluna they say وَٱهۡجُرۡهُمۡ wa-uh'jur'hum and avoid them هَجۡرٗا hajran an avoidance جَمِيلٗا jamilan gracious ١٠
wa-is'bir ala ma yaquluna wa-uh'jur'hum hajran jamilan
— Transliteration
And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way
