18:1
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ al-hamdu All Praise لِلَّهِ lillahi (is) for Allah ٱلَّذِيٓ alladhi the One Who أَنزَلَ anzala (has) revealed عَلَىٰ ala to عَبۡدِهِ abdihi His slave ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ al-kitaba the Book وَلَمۡ walam and not يَجۡعَل yaj'al (has) made لَّهُۥ lahu in it عِوَجَاۜ iwaja any crookedness ١
al-hamdu lillahi alladhi anzala ala abdihi al-kitaba walam yaj'al lahu iwaja
— Transliteration
All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has sent down to His slave (Muhammad SAW) the Book (the Quran), and has not placed therein any crookedness

18:2
قَيِّمٗا qayyiman Straight لِّيُنذِرَ liyundhira to warn بَأۡسٗا basan (of) a punishment شَدِيدٗا shadidan severe مِّن min from لَّدُنۡهُ ladun'hu near Him وَيُبَشِّرَ wayubashira and give glad tidings ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ al-mu'minina (to) the believers ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who يَعۡمَلُونَ ya'maluna do ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ al-salihati righteous deeds أَنَّ anna that لَهُمۡ lahum for them أَجۡرًا ajran (is) a good reward حَسَنٗا hasanan (is) a good reward ٢
qayyiman liyundhira basan shadidan min ladun'hu wayubashira al-mu'minina alladhina ya'maluna al-salihati anna lahum ajran hasanan
— Transliteration
(He has made it) Straight to give warning (to the disbelievers) of a severe punishment from Him, and to give glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a fair reward (i.e. Paradise)

18:3
مَّٰكِثِينَ makithina (They will) abide فِيهِ fihi in it أَبَدٗا abadan forever ٣
makithina fihi abadan
— Transliteration
They shall abide therein forever

18:4
وَيُنذِرَ wayundhira And to warn ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who قَالُواْ qalu say ٱتَّخَذَ ittakhadha Allah has taken ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah has taken وَلَدٗا waladan a son ٤
wayundhira alladhina qalu ittakhadha al-lahu waladan
— Transliteration
And to warn those (Jews, Christians, and pagans) who say, "Allah has begotten a son (or offspring or children)

18:5
مَّا ma Not لَهُم lahum they have بِهِۦ bihi about it مِنۡ min any عِلۡمٖ il'min knowledge وَلَا wala and not لِأٓبَآئِهِمۡۚ liabaihim their forefathers كَبُرَتۡ kaburat Grave (is) كَلِمَةٗ kalimatan the word تَخۡرُجُ takhruju (that) comes out مِنۡ min of أَفۡوَٰهِهِمۡۚ afwahihim their mouths إِن in Not يَقُولُونَ yaquluna they say إِلَّا illa except كَذِبٗا kadhiban a lie ٥
ma lahum bihi min il'min wala liabaihim kaburat kalimatan takhruju min afwahihim in yaquluna illa kadhiban
— Transliteration
No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. Mighty is the word that comes out of their mouths [i.e. He begot (took) sons and daughters]. They utter nothing but a lie

18:6
فَلَعَلَّكَ fala'allaka Then perhaps you would (be) بَٰخِعٞ bakhi'un the one who kills نَّفۡسَكَ nafsaka yourself عَلَىٰٓ ala over ءَاثَٰرِهِمۡ atharihim their footsteps إِن in if لَّمۡ lam not يُؤۡمِنُواْ yu'minu they believe بِهَٰذَا bihadha in this ٱلۡحَدِيثِ al-hadithi [the] narration أَسَفًا asafan (in) grief ٦
fala'allaka bakhi'un nafsaka ala atharihim in lam yu'minu bihadha al-hadithi asafan
— Transliteration
Perhaps, you, would kill yourself (O Muhammad SAW) in grief, over their footsteps (for their turning away from you), because they believe not in this narration (the Quran)

18:7
إِنَّا inna Indeed We جَعَلۡنَا ja'alna We have made مَا ma what عَلَى ala (is) on ٱلۡأَرۡضِ al-ardi the earth زِينَةٗ zinatan adornment لَّهَا laha for it لِنَبۡلُوَهُمۡ linabluwahum that We may test [them] أَيُّهُمۡ ayyuhum which of them أَحۡسَنُ ahsanu (is) best عَمَلٗا amalan (in) deed ٧
inna ja'alna ma ala al-ardi zinatan laha linabluwahum ayyuhum ahsanu amalan
— Transliteration
Verily! We have made that which is on earth as an adornment for it, in order that We may test them (mankind) as to which of them are best in deeds. [i.e. those who do good deeds in the most perfect manner, that means to do them (deeds) totally for Allah's sake and in accordance to the legal ways of the Prophet SAW

18:8
وَإِنَّا wa-inna And indeed We لَجَٰعِلُونَ laja'iluna (will) surely make مَا ma what عَلَيۡهَا alayha (is) on it صَعِيدٗا sa'idan soil جُرُزًا juruzan barren ٨
wa-inna laja'iluna ma alayha sa'idan juruzan
— Transliteration
And verily! We shall make all that is on it (the earth) a bare dry soil (without any vegetation or trees, etc)

18:9
أَمۡ am Or حَسِبۡتَ hasib'ta have you thought أَنَّ anna that أَصۡحَٰبَ ashaba (the) companions ٱلۡكَهۡفِ al-kahfi (of) the cave وَٱلرَّقِيمِ wal-raqimi and the inscription كَانُواْ kanu were مِنۡ min among ءَايَٰتِنَا ayatina Our Signs عَجَبًا ajaban a wonder? ٩
am hasib'ta anna ashaba al-kahfi wal-raqimi kanu min ayatina ajaban
— Transliteration
Do you think that the people of the Cave and the Inscription (the news or the names of the people of the Cave) were a wonder among Our Signs

18:10
إِذۡ idh When أَوَى awa retreated ٱلۡفِتۡيَةُ al-fit'yatu the youths إِلَى ila to ٱلۡكَهۡفِ al-kahfi the cave فَقَالُواْ faqalu and they said رَبَّنَآ rabbana Our Lord! ءَاتِنَا atina Grant us مِن min from لَّدُنكَ ladunka Yourself رَحۡمَةٗ rahmatan Mercy وَهَيِّئۡ wahayyi and facilitate لَنَا lana for us مِنۡ min [from] أَمۡرِنَا amrina our affair رَشَدٗا rashadan (in the) right way ١٠
idh awa al-fit'yatu ila al-kahfi faqalu rabbana atina min ladunka rahmatan wahayyi lana min amrina rashadan
— Transliteration
(Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way
