56:1
إِذَا idha When وَقَعَتِ waqa'ati occurs ٱلۡوَاقِعَةُ al-waqi'atu the Event ١
idha waqa'ati al-waqi'atu
— Transliteration
When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls

56:2
لَيۡسَ laysa Not لِوَقۡعَتِهَا liwaq'atiha at its occurrence كَاذِبَةٌ kadhibatun a denial ٢
laysa liwaq'atiha kadhibatun
— Transliteration
And there can be no denying of its befalling

56:3
خَافِضَةٞ khafidatun Bringing down رَّافِعَةٌ rafi'atun raising up ٣
khafidatun rafi'atun
— Transliteration
It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt

56:4
إِذَا idha When رُجَّتِ rujjati will be shaken ٱلۡأَرۡضُ al-ardu the earth رَجّٗا rajjan (with) a shaking ٤
idha rujjati al-ardu rajjan
— Transliteration
When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake

56:5
وَبُسَّتِ wabussati And will be crumbled ٱلۡجِبَالُ al-jibalu the mountains بَسّٗا bassan (with awful) crumbling ٥
wabussati al-jibalu bassan
— Transliteration
And the mountains will be powdered to dust

56:6
فَكَانَتۡ fakanat So they become هَبَآءٗ habaan dust particles مُّنۢبَثّٗا munbathan dispersing ٦
fakanat habaan munbathan
— Transliteration
So that they will become floating dust particles

56:7
وَكُنتُمۡ wakuntum And you will become أَزۡوَٰجٗا azwajan kinds ثَلَٰثَةٗ thalathatan three ٧
wakuntum azwajan thalathatan
— Transliteration
And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups)

56:8
فَأَصۡحَٰبُ fa-ashabu Then (the) companions ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ al-maymanati (of) the right مَآ ma what أَصۡحَٰبُ ashabu (are the) companions ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ al-maymanati (of) the right? ٨
fa-ashabu al-maymanati ma ashabu al-maymanati
— Transliteration
So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise)

56:9
وَأَصۡحَٰبُ wa-ashabu And (the) companions ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ al-mashamati (of) the left مَآ ma what أَصۡحَٰبُ ashabu (are the) companions ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ al-mashamati (of) the left? ٩
wa-ashabu al-mashamati ma ashabu al-mashamati
— Transliteration
And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell)

56:10
وَٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ wal-sabiquna And the foremost ٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ al-sabiquna (are) the foremost ١٠
wal-sabiquna al-sabiquna
— Transliteration
And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise)
