86:1
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ wal-samai By the sky وَٱلطَّارِقِ wal-tariqi and the night comer ١
wal-samai wal-tariqi
— Transliteration
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star)

86:2
وَمَآ wama And what أَدۡرَىٰكَ adraka can make you know مَا ma what ٱلطَّارِقُ al-tariqu the night comer (is)? ٢
wama adraka ma al-tariqu
— Transliteration
And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is

86:3
ٱلنَّجۡمُ al-najmu (It is) the star ٱلثَّاقِبُ al-thaqibu the piercing! ٣
al-najmu al-thaqibu
— Transliteration
(It is) the star of piercing brightness

86:4
إِن in Not كُلُّ kullu (is) every نَفۡسٖ nafsin soul لَّمَّا lamma but عَلَيۡهَا alayha over it حَافِظٞ hafizun (is) a protector ٤
in kullu nafsin lamma alayha hafizun
— Transliteration
There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc)

86:5
فَلۡيَنظُرِ falyanzuri So let see ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ al-insanu man مِمَّ mimma from what خُلِقَ khuliqa he is created ٥
falyanzuri al-insanu mimma khuliqa
— Transliteration
So let man see from what he is created

86:6
خُلِقَ khuliqa He is created مِن min from مَّآءٖ main a water دَافِقٖ dafiqin ejected ٦
khuliqa min main dafiqin
— Transliteration
He is created from a water gushing forth

86:7
يَخۡرُجُ yakhruju Coming forth مِنۢ min from بَيۡنِ bayni between ٱلصُّلۡبِ al-sul'bi the backbone وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ wal-taraibi and the ribs ٧
yakhruju min bayni al-sul'bi wal-taraibi
— Transliteration
Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs

86:8
إِنَّهُۥ innahu Indeed He عَلَىٰ ala to رَجۡعِهِۦ raj'ihi return him لَقَادِرٞ laqadirun (is) Able ٨
innahu ala raj'ihi laqadirun
— Transliteration
Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)

86:9
يَوۡمَ yawma (The) Day تُبۡلَى tub'la will be tested ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ al-sarairu the secrets ٩
yawma tub'la al-sarairu
— Transliteration
The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth)

86:10
فَمَا fama Then not لَهُۥ lahu (is) for him مِن min any قُوَّةٖ quwwatin power وَلَا wala and not نَاصِرٖ nasirin any helper ١٠
fama lahu min quwwatin wala nasirin
— Transliteration
Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper
