8:1
يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ yasalunaka They ask you عَنِ ani about ٱلۡأَنفَالِۖ al-anfali the spoils of war قُلِ quli Say ٱلۡأَنفَالُ al-anfalu The spoils of war لِلَّهِ lillahi (are) for Allah وَٱلرَّسُولِۖ wal-rasuli and the Messenger فَٱتَّقُواْ fa-ittaqu So fear ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah وَأَصۡلِحُواْ wa-aslihu and set right ذَاتَ dhata that بَيۡنِكُمۡۖ baynikum (which is) between you وَأَطِيعُواْ wa-ati'u and obey ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ warasulahu and His Messenger إِن in if كُنتُم kuntum you are مُّؤۡمِنِينَ mu'minina believers ١
yasalunaka ani al-anfali quli al-anfalu lillahi wal-rasuli fa-ittaqu al-laha wa-aslihu dhata baynikum wa-ati'u al-laha warasulahu in kuntum mu'minina
— Transliteration
They ask you (O Muhammad SAW) about the spoils of war. Say: "The spoils are for Allah and the Messenger." So fear Allah and adjust all matters of difference among you, and obey Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW), if you are believers

8:2
إِنَّمَا innama Only ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ al-mu'minuna the believers ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina (are) those who إِذَا idha when ذُكِرَ dhukira is mentioned ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah وَجِلَتۡ wajilat feel fear قُلُوبُهُمۡ qulubuhum their hearts وَإِذَا wa-idha and when تُلِيَتۡ tuliyat are recited عَلَيۡهِمۡ alayhim to them ءَايَٰتُهُۥ ayatuhu His Verses زَادَتۡهُمۡ zadathum they increase them إِيمَٰنٗا imanan (in) faith وَعَلَىٰ wa'ala and upon رَبِّهِمۡ rabbihim their Lord يَتَوَكَّلُونَ yatawakkaluna they put their trust ٢
innama al-mu'minuna alladhina idha dhukira al-lahu wajilat qulubuhum wa-idha tuliyat alayhim ayatuhu zadathum imanan wa'ala rabbihim yatawakkaluna
— Transliteration
The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Quran) are recited unto them, they (i.e. the Verses) increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord (Alone)

8:3
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina Those who يُقِيمُونَ yuqimuna establish ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ al-salata the prayer وَمِمَّا wamimma and out of what رَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡ razaqnahum We have provided them يُنفِقُونَ yunfiquna they spend ٣
alladhina yuqimuna al-salata wamimma razaqnahum yunfiquna
— Transliteration
Who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and spend out of that We have provided them

8:4
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ulaika Those هُمُ humu they are ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ al-mu'minuna the believers حَقّٗاۚ haqqan (in) truth لَّهُمۡ lahum For them دَرَجَٰتٌ darajatun (are) ranks عِندَ inda with رَبِّهِمۡ rabbihim their Lord وَمَغۡفِرَةٞ wamaghfiratun and forgiveness وَرِزۡقٞ wariz'qun and a provision كَرِيمٞ karimun noble ٤
ulaika humu al-mu'minuna haqqan lahum darajatun inda rabbihim wamaghfiratun wariz'qun karimun
— Transliteration
It is they who are the believers in truth. For them are grades of dignity with their Lord, and Forgiveness and a generous provision (Paradise)

8:5
كَمَآ kama As أَخۡرَجَكَ akhrajaka brought you out رَبُّكَ rabbuka your Lord مِنۢ min from بَيۡتِكَ baytika your home بِٱلۡحَقِّ bil-haqi in truth وَإِنَّ wa-inna while indeed فَرِيقٗا fariqan a party مِّنَ mina among ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ al-mu'minina the believers لَكَٰرِهُونَ lakarihuna certainly disliked ٥
kama akhrajaka rabbuka min baytika bil-haqi wa-inna fariqan mina al-mu'minina lakarihuna
— Transliteration
As your Lord caused you (O Muhammad SAW) to go out from your home with the truth, and verily, a party among the believers disliked it

8:6
يُجَٰدِلُونَكَ yujadilunaka They dispute with you فِي fi concerning ٱلۡحَقِّ al-haqi the truth بَعۡدَ مَا ba'da ma after what تَبَيَّنَ tabayyana was made clear كَأَنَّمَا ka-annama as if يُسَاقُونَ yusaquna they were driven إِلَى ila to ٱلۡمَوۡتِ al-mawti [the] death وَهُمۡ wahum while they يَنظُرُونَ yanzuruna (were) looking ٦
yujadilunaka fi al-haqi ba'da ma tabayyana ka-annama yusaquna ila al-mawti wahum yanzuruna
— Transliteration
Disputing with you concerning the truth after it was made manifest, as if they were being driven to death, while they were looking (at it)

8:7
وَإِذۡ wa-idh And when يَعِدُكُمُ ya'idukumu promised you ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah إِحۡدَى ih'da one ٱلطَّآئِفَتَيۡنِ al-taifatayni (of) the two groups أَنَّهَا annaha that it (would be) لَكُمۡ lakum for you وَتَوَدُّونَ watawadduna and you wished أَنَّ anna that غَيۡرَ ghayra (one) other than ذَاتِ dhati that ٱلشَّوۡكَةِ al-shawkati (of) the armed تَكُونُ takunu would be لَكُمۡ lakum for you وَيُرِيدُ wayuridu But intended ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah أَن an to يُحِقَّ yuhiqqa justify ٱلۡحَقَّ al-haqa the truth بِكَلِمَٰتِهِۦ bikalimatihi by His words وَيَقۡطَعَ wayaqta'a and cut off دَابِرَ dabira (the) roots ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ al-kafirina (of) the disbelievers ٧
wa-idh ya'idukumu al-lahu ih'da al-taifatayni annaha lakum watawadduna anna ghayra dhati al-shawkati takunu lakum wayuridu al-lahu an yuhiqqa al-haqa bikalimatihi wayaqta'a dabira al-kafirina
— Transliteration
And (remember) when Allah promised you (Muslims) one of the two parties (of the enemy i.e. either the army or the caravan) that it should be yours, you wished that the one not armed (the caravan) should be yours, but Allah willed to justify the truth by His Words and to cut off the roots of the disbelievers (i.e. in the battle of Badr)

8:8
لِيُحِقَّ liyuhiqqa That He might justify ٱلۡحَقَّ al-haqa the truth وَيُبۡطِلَ wayub'tila and prove false ٱلۡبَٰطِلَ al-batila the falsehood وَلَوۡ walaw even if كَرِهَ kariha disliked (it) ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ al-muj'rimuna the criminals ٨
liyuhiqqa al-haqa wayub'tila al-batila walaw kariha al-muj'rimuna
— Transliteration
That He might cause the truth to triumph and bring falsehood to nothing, even though the Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.) hate it

8:9
إِذۡ idh When تَسۡتَغِيثُونَ tastaghithuna you were seeking help رَبَّكُمۡ rabbakum (of) your Lord فَٱسۡتَجَابَ fa-is'tajaba and He answered لَكُمۡ lakum [to] you أَنِّي anni Indeed I am مُمِدُّكُم mumiddukum going to reinforce you بِأَلۡفٖ bi-alfin with a thousand مِّنَ mina of ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ al-malaikati the Angels مُرۡدِفِينَ mur'difina one after another ٩
idh tastaghithuna rabbakum fa-is'tajaba lakum anni mumiddukum bi-alfin mina al-malaikati mur'difina
— Transliteration
(Remember) when you sought help of your Lord and He answered you (saying): "I will help you with a thousand of the angels each behind the other (following one another) in succession

8:10
وَمَا wama And not جَعَلَهُ ja'alahu (it was) made ٱللَّهُ al-lahu (by) Allah إِلَّا illa but بُشۡرَىٰ bush'ra good tidings وَلِتَطۡمَئِنَّ walitatma-inna and so that might be at rest بِهِۦ bihi with it قُلُوبُكُمۡۚ qulubukum your hearts وَمَا wama And (there is) no ٱلنَّصۡرُ al-nasru [the] victory إِلَّا illa except مِنۡ min from عِندِ indi [of] ٱللَّهِۚ al-lahi Allah إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah عَزِيزٌ azizun (is) AllMighty حَكِيمٌ hakimun AllWise ١٠
wama ja'alahu al-lahu illa bush'ra walitatma-inna bihi qulubukum wama al-nasru illa min indi al-lahi inna al-laha azizun hakimun
— Transliteration
Allah made it only as glad tidings, and that your hearts be at rest therewith. And there is no victory except from Allah. Verily, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise
