59:1
سَبَّحَ sabbaha Glorifies لِلَّهِ lillahi [to] Allah مَا ma whatever فِي fi (is) in ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ al-samawati the heavens وَمَا wama and whatever فِي fi (is) in ٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ al-ardi the earth وَهُوَ wahuwa And He ٱلۡعَزِيزُ al-'azizu (is) the AllMighty ٱلۡحَكِيمُ al-hakimu the AllWise ١
sabbaha lillahi ma fi al-samawati wama fi al-ardi wahuwa al-'azizu al-hakimu
— Transliteration
Whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth glorifies Allah. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise

59:2
هُوَ huwa He ٱلَّذِيٓ alladhi (is) the One Who أَخۡرَجَ akhraja expelled ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who كَفَرُواْ kafaru disbelieved مِنۡ min from أَهۡلِ ahli (the) People ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ al-kitabi (of) the Scripture مِن min from دِيَٰرِهِمۡ diyarihim their homes لِأَوَّلِ li-awwali at (the) first ٱلۡحَشۡرِۚ al-hashri gathering مَا ma Not ظَنَنتُمۡ zanantum you think أَن an that يَخۡرُجُواْۖ yakhruju they would leave وَظَنُّوٓاْ wazannu and they thought أَنَّهُم annahum that [they] مَّانِعَتُهُمۡ mani'atuhum would defend them حُصُونُهُم husunuhum their fortresses مِّنَ mina against ٱللَّهِ al-lahi Allah فَأَتَىٰهُمُ fa-atahumu But came to them ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah مِنۡ min from حَيۡثُ haythu where لَمۡ lam not يَحۡتَسِبُواْۖ yahtasibu they expected وَقَذَفَ waqadhafa and He cast فِي fi into قُلُوبِهِمُ qulubihimu their hearts ٱلرُّعۡبَۚ al-ru'ba [the] terror يُخۡرِبُونَ yukh'ribuna they destroyed بُيُوتَهُم buyutahum their houses بِأَيۡدِيهِمۡ bi-aydihim with their hands وَأَيۡدِي wa-aydi and the hands ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ al-mu'minina (of) the believers فَٱعۡتَبِرُواْ fa-i'tabiru So take a lesson يَٰٓأُوْلِي yauli O those endowed ٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرِ al-absari (with) insight! ٢
huwa alladhi akhraja alladhina kafaru min ahli al-kitabi min diyarihim li-awwali al-hashri ma zanantum an yakhruju wazannu annahum mani'atuhum husunuhum mina al-lahi fa-atahumu al-lahu min haythu lam yahtasibu waqadhafa fi qulubihimu al-ru'ba yukh'ribuna buyutahum bi-aydihim wa-aydi al-mu'minina fa-i'tabiru yauli al-absari
— Transliteration
He it is Who drove out the disbelievers among the people of the Scripture (i.e. the Jews of the tribe of Bani An-Nadir) from their homes at the first gathering. You did not think that they would get out. And they thought that their fortresses would defend them from Allah! But Allah's (Torment) reached them from a place whereof they expected it not, and He cast terror into their hearts, so that they destroyed their own dwellings with their own hands and the hands of the believers. Then take admonition, O you with eyes (to see)

59:3
وَلَوۡلَآ walawla And if not أَن an [that] كَتَبَ kataba (had) decreed ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah عَلَيۡهِمُ alayhimu for them ٱلۡجَلَآءَ al-jalaa the exile لَعَذَّبَهُمۡ la'adhabahum certainly He (would) have punished them فِي fi in ٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ al-dun'ya the world وَلَهُمۡ walahum and for them فِي fi in ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ al-akhirati the Hereafter عَذَابُ adhabu (is) a punishment ٱلنَّارِ al-nari (of) the Fire ٣
walawla an kataba al-lahu alayhimu al-jalaa la'adhabahum fi al-dun'ya walahum fi al-akhirati adhabu al-nari
— Transliteration
And had it not been that Allah had decreed exile for them, He would certainly have punished them in this world, and in the Hereafter theirs shall be the torment of the Fire

59:4
ذَٰلِكَ dhalika That بِأَنَّهُمۡ bi-annahum (is) because [they] شَآقُّواْ shaqqu they opposed ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah وَرَسُولَهُۥۖ warasulahu and His Messenger وَمَن waman And whoever يُشَآقِّ yushaqqi opposes ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah فَإِنَّ fa-inna then indeed ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah شَدِيدُ shadidu (is) severe ٱلۡعِقَابِ al-'iqabi (in) penalty ٤
dhalika bi-annahum shaqqu al-laha warasulahu waman yushaqqi al-laha fa-inna al-laha shadidu al-'iqabi
— Transliteration
That is because they opposed Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW). And whosoever opposes Allah, then verily, Allah is Severe in punishment

59:5
مَا ma Whatever قَطَعۡتُم qata'tum you cut down مِّن min of لِّينَةٍ linatin (the) palmtrees أَوۡ aw or تَرَكۡتُمُوهَا taraktumuha you left them قَآئِمَةً qaimatan standing عَلَىٰٓ ala on أُصُولِهَا usuliha their roots فَبِإِذۡنِ fabi-idh'ni it (was) by the permission ٱللَّهِ al-lahi (of) Allah وَلِيُخۡزِيَ waliyukh'ziya and that He may disgrace ٱلۡفَٰسِقِينَ al-fasiqina the defiantly disobedient ٥
ma qata'tum min linatin aw taraktumuha qaimatan ala usuliha fabi-idh'ni al-lahi waliyukh'ziya al-fasiqina
— Transliteration
What you (O Muslims) cut down of the palm-trees (of the enemy), or you left them standing on their stems, it was by Leave of Allah, and in order that He might disgrace the Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah)

59:6
وَمَآ wama And what أَفَآءَ afaa (was) restored ٱللَّهُ al-lahu (by) Allah عَلَىٰ ala to رَسُولِهِۦ rasulihi His Messenger مِنۡهُمۡ min'hum from them فَمَآ fama then not أَوۡجَفۡتُمۡ awjaftum you made expedition عَلَيۡهِ alayhi for it مِنۡ min of خَيۡلٖ khaylin horses وَلَا wala and not رِكَابٖ rikabin camels وَلَٰكِنَّ walakinna but ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah يُسَلِّطُ yusallitu gives power رُسُلَهُۥ rusulahu (to) His Messengers عَلَىٰ ala over مَن man whom يَشَآءُۚ yashau He wills وَٱللَّهُ wal-lahu And Allah عَلَىٰ ala (is) on كُلِّ kulli every شَيۡءٖ shayin thing قَدِيرٞ qadirun AllPowerful ٦
wama afaa al-lahu ala rasulihi min'hum fama awjaftum alayhi min khaylin wala rikabin walakinna al-laha yusallitu rusulahu ala man yashau wal-lahu ala kulli shayin qadirun
— Transliteration
And what Allah gave as booty (Fai') to His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) from them, for which you made no expedition with either cavalry or camelry. But Allah gives power to His Messengers over whomsoever He wills. And Allah is Able to do all things

59:7
مَّآ ma What أَفَآءَ afaa (was) restored ٱللَّهُ al-lahu (by) Allah عَلَىٰ ala to رَسُولِهِۦ rasulihi His Messenger مِنۡ min from أَهۡلِ ahli (the) people ٱلۡقُرَىٰ al-qura (of) the towns فَلِلَّهِ falillahi (it is) for Allah وَلِلرَّسُولِ walilrrasuli and His Messenger وَلِذِي walidhi and for those ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ al-qur'ba (of) the kindred وَٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ wal-yatama and the orphans وَٱلۡمَسَٰكِينِ wal-masakini and the needy وَٱبۡنِ wa-ib'ni and ٱلسَّبِيلِ al-sabili the wayfarer كَيۡ kay that لَا la not يَكُونَ yakuna it becomes دُولَةَۢ dulatan a (perpetual) circulation بَيۡنَ bayna between ٱلۡأَغۡنِيَآءِ al-aghniyai the rich مِنكُمۡۚ minkum among you وَمَآ wama And whatever ءَاتَىٰكُمُ atakumu gives you ٱلرَّسُولُ al-rasulu the Messenger فَخُذُوهُ fakhudhuhu take it وَمَا wama and whatever نَهَىٰكُمۡ nahakum he forbids you عَنۡهُ anhu from it فَٱنتَهُواْۚ fa-intahu refrain وَٱتَّقُواْ wa-ittaqu And fear ٱللَّهَۖ al-laha Allah إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah شَدِيدُ shadidu (is) severe ٱلۡعِقَابِ al-'iqabi (in) penalty ٧
ma afaa al-lahu ala rasulihi min ahli al-qura falillahi walilrrasuli walidhi al-qur'ba wal-yatama wal-masakini wa-ib'ni al-sabili kay la yakuna dulatan bayna al-aghniyai minkum wama atakumu al-rasulu fakhudhuhu wama nahakum anhu fa-intahu wa-ittaqu al-laha inna al-laha shadidu al-'iqabi
— Transliteration
What Allah gave as booty (Fai') to His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) from the people of the townships, - it is for Allah, His Messenger (Muhammad SAW), the kindred (of Messenger Muhammad SAW), the orphans, Al-Masakin (the poor), and the wayfarer, in order that it may not become a fortune used by the rich among you. And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it), and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Severe in punishment

59:8
لِلۡفُقَرَآءِ lil'fuqarai For the poor ٱلۡمُهَٰجِرِينَ al-muhajirina emigrants ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who أُخۡرِجُواْ ukh'riju were expelled مِن min from دِيَٰرِهِمۡ diyarihim their homes وَأَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ wa-amwalihim and their properties يَبۡتَغُونَ yabtaghuna seeking فَضۡلٗا fadlan bounty مِّنَ mina from ٱللَّهِ al-lahi Allah وَرِضۡوَٰنٗا warid'wanan and pleasure وَيَنصُرُونَ wayansuruna and helping ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah وَرَسُولَهُۥٓۚ warasulahu and His Messenger أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ulaika Those هُمُ humu they ٱلصَّٰدِقُونَ al-sadiquna (are) the truthful ٨
lil'fuqarai al-muhajirina alladhina ukh'riju min diyarihim wa-amwalihim yabtaghuna fadlan mina al-lahi warid'wanan wayansuruna al-laha warasulahu ulaika humu al-sadiquna
— Transliteration
(And there is also a share in this booty) for the poor emigrants, who were expelled from their homes and their property, seeking Bounties from Allah and to please Him. And helping Allah (i.e. helping His religion) and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW). Such are indeed the truthful (to what they say)

59:9
وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhina And those who تَبَوَّءُو tabawwau settled ٱلدَّارَ al-dara (in) the home وَٱلۡإِيمَٰنَ wal-imana and (accepted) faith مِن min from قَبۡلِهِمۡ qablihim before them يُحِبُّونَ yuhibbuna love مَنۡ man (those) who هَاجَرَ hajara emigrated إِلَيۡهِمۡ ilayhim to them وَلَا wala and not يَجِدُونَ yajiduna they find فِي fi in صُدُورِهِمۡ sudurihim their breasts حَاجَةٗ hajatan any want مِّمَّآ mimma of what أُوتُواْ utu they were given وَيُؤۡثِرُونَ wayu'thiruna but prefer عَلَىٰٓ ala over أَنفُسِهِمۡ anfusihim themselves وَلَوۡ walaw even though كَانَ kana was بِهِمۡ bihim with them خَصَاصَةٞۚ khasasatun poverty وَمَن waman And whoever يُوقَ yuqa is saved شُحَّ shuhha (from) stinginess نَفۡسِهِۦ nafsihi (of) his soul فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ fa-ulaika then those هُمُ humu [they] ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ al-muf'lihuna (are) the successful ones ٩
wa-alladhina tabawwau al-dara wal-imana min qablihim yuhibbuna man hajara ilayhim wala yajiduna fi sudurihim hajatan mimma utu wayu'thiruna ala anfusihim walaw kana bihim khasasatun waman yuqa shuhha nafsihi fa-ulaika humu al-muf'lihuna
— Transliteration
And those who, before them, had homes (in Al-Madinah) and had adopted the Faith, love those who emigrate to them, and have no jealousy in their breasts for that which they have been given (from the booty of Bani An-Nadir), and give them (emigrants) preference over themselves, even though they were in need of that. And whosoever is saved from his own covetousness, such are they who will be the successful

59:10
وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhina And those who جَآءُو jau came مِنۢ min from بَعۡدِهِمۡ ba'dihim after them يَقُولُونَ yaquluna they say رَبَّنَا rabbana Our Lord ٱغۡفِرۡ igh'fir forgive لَنَا lana us وَلِإِخۡوَٰنِنَا wali-ikh'wanina and our brothers ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina who سَبَقُونَا sabaquna preceded us بِٱلۡإِيمَٰنِ bil-imani in faith وَلَا wala and (do) not تَجۡعَلۡ taj'al put فِي fi in قُلُوبِنَا qulubina our hearts غِلّٗا ghillan any rancor لِّلَّذِينَ lilladhina towards those who ءَامَنُواْ amanu believed رَبَّنَآ rabbana Our Lord إِنَّكَ innaka indeed You رَءُوفٞ raufun (are) Full of Kindness رَّحِيمٌ rahimun Most Merciful ١٠
wa-alladhina jau min ba'dihim yaquluna rabbana igh'fir lana wali-ikh'wanina alladhina sabaquna bil-imani wala taj'al fi qulubina ghillan lilladhina amanu rabbana innaka raufun rahimun
— Transliteration
And those who came after them say: "Our Lord! Forgive us and our brethren who have preceded us in Faith, and put not in our hearts any hatred against those who have believed. Our Lord! You are indeed full of kindness, Most Merciful

Al Hashr (The Exile)
