حمٓ ha-meem Ha Meem ١
ha-meem
— Transliteration
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings

46:2
تَنزِيلُ tanzilu (The) revelation ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ al-kitabi (of) the Book مِنَ mina (is) from ٱللَّهِ al-lahi Allah ٱلۡعَزِيزِ al-'azizi the AllMighty ٱلۡحَكِيمِ al-hakimi the AllWise ٢
tanzilu al-kitabi mina al-lahi al-'azizi al-hakimi
— Transliteration
The revelation of the Book (this Quran) is from Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise

46:3
مَا ma Not خَلَقۡنَا khalaqna We created ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ al-samawati the heavens وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ wal-arda and the earth وَمَا wama and what بَيۡنَهُمَآ baynahuma (is) between both of them إِلَّا illa except بِٱلۡحَقِّ bil-haqi in truth وَأَجَلٖ wa-ajalin and (for) a term مُّسَمّٗىۚ musamman appointed وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhina But those who كَفَرُواْ kafaru disbelieve عَمَّآ amma from what أُنذِرُواْ undhiru they are warned مُعۡرِضُونَ mu'riduna (are) turning away ٣
ma khalaqna al-samawati wal-arda wama baynahuma illa bil-haqi wa-ajalin musamman wa-alladhina kafaru amma undhiru mu'riduna
— Transliteration
We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them except with truth, and for an appointed term. But those who disbelieve turn away from that whereof they are warned

46:4
قُلۡ qul Say أَرَءَيۡتُم ara-aytum Do you see مَّا ma what تَدۡعُونَ tad'una you call مِن min besides دُونِ duni besides ٱللَّهِ al-lahi Allah? أَرُونِي aruni Show me مَاذَا madha what خَلَقُواْ khalaqu they have created مِنَ mina of ٱلۡأَرۡضِ al-ardi the earth أَمۡ am or لَهُمۡ lahum for them شِرۡكٞ shir'kun (is) any share فِي fi in ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِۖ al-samawati the heavens? ٱئۡتُونِي i'tuni Bring me بِكِتَٰبٖ bikitabin a book مِّن min from قَبۡلِ qabli before هَٰذَآ hadha this أَوۡ aw or أَثَٰرَةٖ atharatin a trace مِّنۡ min of عِلۡمٍ il'min knowledge إِن in if كُنتُمۡ kuntum you are صَٰدِقِينَ sadiqina truthful ٤
qul ara-aytum ma tad'una min duni al-lahi aruni madha khalaqu mina al-ardi am lahum shir'kun fi al-samawati i'tuni bikitabin min qabli hadha aw atharatin min il'min in kuntum sadiqina
— Transliteration
Say (O Muhammad SAW to these pagans): "Think! All that you invoke besides Allah show me! What have they created of the earth? Or have they a share in (the creation of) the heavens? Bring me a Book (revealed before this), or some trace of knowledge (in support of your claims), if you are truthful

46:5
وَمَنۡ waman And who أَضَلُّ adallu (is) more astray مِمَّن mimman than (he) who يَدۡعُواْ yad'u calls مِن min besides دُونِ duni besides ٱللَّهِ al-lahi Allah مَن man who لَّا la will not respond يَسۡتَجِيبُ yastajibu will not respond لَهُۥٓ lahu to him إِلَىٰ ila until يَوۡمِ yawmi (the) Day ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ al-qiyamati (of) Resurrection وَهُمۡ wahum and they عَن an of دُعَآئِهِمۡ du'aihim their calls غَٰفِلُونَ ghafiluna (are) unaware ٥
waman adallu mimman yad'u min duni al-lahi man la yastajibu lahu ila yawmi al-qiyamati wahum an du'aihim ghafiluna
— Transliteration
And who is more astray than one who calls (invokes) besides Allah, such as will not answer him till the Day of Resurrection, and who are (even) unaware of their calls (invocations) to them

46:6
وَإِذَا wa-idha And when حُشِرَ hushira are gathered ٱلنَّاسُ al-nasu the people كَانُواْ kanu they will be لَهُمۡ lahum for them أَعۡدَآءٗ a'daan enemies وَكَانُواْ wakanu and they will be بِعِبَادَتِهِمۡ bi'ibadatihim of their worship كَٰفِرِينَ kafirina deniers ٦
wa-idha hushira al-nasu kanu lahum a'daan wakanu bi'ibadatihim kafirina
— Transliteration
And when mankind are gathered (on the Day of Resurrection), they (false deities) will become enemies for them and will deny their worshipping

46:7
وَإِذَا wa-idha And when تُتۡلَىٰ tut'la are recited عَلَيۡهِمۡ alayhim to them ءَايَٰتُنَا ayatuna Our Verses بَيِّنَٰتٖ bayyinatin clear قَالَ qala say ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who كَفَرُواْ kafaru disbelieve لِلۡحَقِّ lil'haqqi of the truth لَمَّا lamma when جَآءَهُمۡ jaahum it comes to them هَٰذَا hadha This سِحۡرٞ sih'run (is) a magic مُّبِينٌ mubinun clear ٧
wa-idha tut'la alayhim ayatuna bayyinatin qala alladhina kafaru lil'haqqi lamma jaahum hadha sih'run mubinun
— Transliteration
And when Our Clear Verses are recited to them, the disbelievers say of the truth (this Quran), when it reaches them: "This is plain magic

46:8
أَمۡ am Or يَقُولُونَ yaquluna they say ٱفۡتَرَىٰهُۖ if'tarahu He has invented it قُلۡ qul Say إِنِ ini If ٱفۡتَرَيۡتُهُۥ if'taraytuhu I have invented it فَلَا fala then not تَمۡلِكُونَ tamlikuna you have power لِي li for me مِنَ mina against ٱللَّهِ al-lahi Allah شَيۡـًٔاۖ shayan anything هُوَ huwa He أَعۡلَمُ a'lamu knows best بِمَا bima of what تُفِيضُونَ tufiduna you utter فِيهِۚ fihi concerning it كَفَىٰ kafa Sufficient is He بِهِۦ bihi Sufficient is He شَهِيدَۢا shahidan (as) a Witness بَيۡنِي bayni between me وَبَيۡنَكُمۡۖ wabaynakum and between you وَهُوَ wahuwa and He ٱلۡغَفُورُ al-ghafuru (is) the OftForgiving ٱلرَّحِيمُ al-rahimu the Most Merciful ٨
am yaquluna if'tarahu qul ini if'taraytuhu fala tamlikuna li mina al-lahi shayan huwa a'lamu bima tufiduna fihi kafa bihi shahidan bayni wabaynakum wahuwa al-ghafuru al-rahimu
— Transliteration
Or say they: "He (Muhammad SAW) has fabricated it." Say: "If I have fabricated it, still you have no power to support me against Allah. He knows best of what you say among yourselves concerning it (i.e. this Quran)! Sufficient is He for a witness between me and you! And He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful

46:9
قُلۡ qul Say مَا ma Not كُنتُ kuntu I am بِدۡعٗا bid'an a new (one) مِّنَ mina among ٱلرُّسُلِ al-rusuli the Messengers وَمَآ wama and not أَدۡرِي adri I know مَا ma what يُفۡعَلُ yuf'alu will be done بِي bi with me وَلَا wala and not بِكُمۡۖ bikum with you إِنۡ in Not أَتَّبِعُ attabi'u I follow إِلَّا illa but مَا ma what يُوحَىٰٓ yuha is revealed إِلَيَّ ilayya to me وَمَآ wama and not أَنَا۠ ana I am إِلَّا illa but نَذِيرٞ nadhirun a warner مُّبِينٞ mubinun clear ٩
qul ma kuntu bid'an mina al-rusuli wama adri ma yuf'alu bi wala bikum in attabi'u illa ma yuha ilayya wama ana illa nadhirun mubinun
— Transliteration
Say (O Muhammad SAW):"I am not a new thing among the Messengers (of Allah) (i.e. I am not the first Messenger) nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I only follow that which is revealed to me, and I am but a plain warner

46:10
قُلۡ qul Say أَرَءَيۡتُمۡ ara-aytum Do you see إِن in if كَانَ kana it is مِنۡ min from Allah عِندِ indi from Allah ٱللَّهِ al-lahi from Allah وَكَفَرۡتُم wakafartum and you disbelieve بِهِۦ bihi in it وَشَهِدَ washahida and testifies شَاهِدٞ shahidun a witness مِّنۢ min from بَنِيٓ bani (the) Children of Israel إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ is'raila (the) Children of Israel عَلَىٰ ala to مِثۡلِهِۦ mith'lihi (the) like thereof فَـَٔامَنَ faamana then he believed وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرۡتُمۡۚ wa-is'takbartum while you are arrogant? إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah لَا la (does) not يَهۡدِي yahdi guide ٱلۡقَوۡمَ al-qawma the people ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ al-zalimina the wrongdoers ١٠
qul ara-aytum in kana min indi al-lahi wakafartum bihi washahida shahidun min bani is'raila ala mith'lihi faamana wa-is'takbartum inna al-laha la yahdi al-qawma al-zalimina
— Transliteration
Say: "Tell me! If this (Quran) is from Allah, and you deny it, and a witness from among the Children of Israel ('Abdullah bin Salam) testifies that this Quran is from Allah [like the Taurat (Torah)], so he believed (embraced Islam) while you are too proud (to believe)." Verily! Allah guides not the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers and wrong-doing)
