53:1
وَٱلنَّجۡمِ wal-najmi By the star إِذَا idha when هَوَىٰ hawa it goes down ١
wal-najmi idha hawa
— Transliteration
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes)

53:2
مَا ma Not ضَلَّ dalla has strayed صَاحِبُكُمۡ sahibukum your companion وَمَا wama and not غَوَىٰ ghawa has he erred ٢
ma dalla sahibukum wama ghawa
— Transliteration
Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred

53:3
وَمَا wama And not يَنطِقُ yantiqu he speaks عَنِ ani from ٱلۡهَوَىٰٓ al-hawa the desire ٣
wama yantiqu ani al-hawa
— Transliteration
Nor does he speak of (his own) desire

53:4
إِنۡ in Not هُوَ huwa it إِلَّا illa (is) except وَحۡيٞ wahyun a revelation يُوحَىٰ yuha revealed ٤
in huwa illa wahyun yuha
— Transliteration
It is only an Inspiration that is inspired

53:5
عَلَّمَهُۥ allamahu Has taught him شَدِيدُ shadidu the (one) mighty ٱلۡقُوَىٰ al-quwa (in) power ٥
allamahu shadidu al-quwa
— Transliteration
He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power [Jibrael (Gabriel]

53:6
ذُو dhu Possessor of soundness مِرَّةٖ mirratin Possessor of soundness فَٱسۡتَوَىٰ fa-is'tawa And he rose ٦
dhu mirratin fa-is'tawa
— Transliteration
Dhu Mirrah (free from any defect in body and mind), Fastawa [then he (Jibrael - Gabriel) rose and became stable]. [Tafsir At-Tabari]

53:7
وَهُوَ wahuwa While he بِٱلۡأُفُقِ bil-ufuqi (was) in the horizon ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ al-a'la the highest ٧
wahuwa bil-ufuqi al-a'la
— Transliteration
While he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon

53:8
ثُمَّ thumma Then دَنَا dana he approached فَتَدَلَّىٰ fatadalla and came down ٨
thumma dana fatadalla
— Transliteration
Then he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] approached and came closer

53:9
فَكَانَ fakana And was قَابَ qaba (at) a distance قَوۡسَيۡنِ qawsayni (of) two bow(lengths) أَوۡ aw or أَدۡنَىٰ adna nearer ٩
fakana qaba qawsayni aw adna
— Transliteration
And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer

53:10
فَأَوۡحَىٰٓ fa-awha So he revealed إِلَىٰ ila to عَبۡدِهِۦ abdihi His slave مَآ ma what أَوۡحَىٰ awha he revealed ١٠
fa-awha ila abdihi ma awha
— Transliteration
So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel]
