طسٓمٓ ta-seen-meem Ta Seem Meem ١
ta-seen-meem
— Transliteration
Ta-Sin-Mim [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings

28:2
تِلۡكَ til'ka These ءَايَٰتُ ayatu (are the) Verses ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ al-kitabi (of) the Book ٱلۡمُبِينِ al-mubini the clear ٢
til'ka ayatu al-kitabi al-mubini
— Transliteration
These are Verses of the manifest Book (that makes clear truth from falsehood, good from evil, etc)

28:3
نَتۡلُواْ natlu We recite عَلَيۡكَ alayka to you مِن min from نَّبَإِ naba-i (the) news مُوسَىٰ musa (of) Musa وَفِرۡعَوۡنَ wafir'awna and Firaun بِٱلۡحَقِّ bil-haqi in truth لِقَوۡمٖ liqawmin for a people يُؤۡمِنُونَ yu'minuna who believe ٣
natlu alayka min naba-i musa wafir'awna bil-haqi liqawmin yu'minuna
— Transliteration
We recite to you some of the news of Musa (Moses) and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) in truth, for a people who believe (those who believe in this Quran, and in the Oneness of Allah)

28:4
إِنَّ inna Indeed فِرۡعَوۡنَ fir'awna Firaun عَلَا ala exalted himself فِي fi in ٱلۡأَرۡضِ al-ardi the land وَجَعَلَ waja'ala and made أَهۡلَهَا ahlaha its people شِيَعٗا shiya'an (into) sects يَسۡتَضۡعِفُ yastad'ifu oppressing طَآئِفَةٗ taifatan a group مِّنۡهُمۡ min'hum among them يُذَبِّحُ yudhabbihu slaughtering أَبۡنَآءَهُمۡ abnaahum their sons وَيَسۡتَحۡيِۦ wayastahyi and letting live نِسَآءَهُمۡۚ nisaahum their women إِنَّهُۥ innahu Indeed he كَانَ kana was مِنَ mina of ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ al-muf'sidina the corrupters ٤
inna fir'awna ala fi al-ardi waja'ala ahlaha shiya'an yastad'ifu taifatan min'hum yudhabbihu abnaahum wayastahyi nisaahum innahu kana mina al-muf'sidina
— Transliteration
Verily, Fir'aun (Pharaoh) exalted himself in the land and made its people sects, weakening (oppressing) a group (i.e. Children of Israel) among them, killing their sons, and letting their females live. Verily, he was of the Mufsidun (i.e. those who commit great sins and crimes, oppressors, tyrants, etc)

28:5
وَنُرِيدُ wanuridu And We wanted أَن an to نَّمُنَّ namunna bestow a favor عَلَى ala upon ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who ٱسۡتُضۡعِفُواْ us'tud'ifu were oppressed فِي fi in ٱلۡأَرۡضِ al-ardi the land وَنَجۡعَلَهُمۡ wanaj'alahum and make them أَئِمَّةٗ a-immatan leaders وَنَجۡعَلَهُمُ wanaj'alahumu and make them ٱلۡوَٰرِثِينَ al-warithina the inheritors ٥
wanuridu an namunna ala alladhina us'tud'ifu fi al-ardi wanaj'alahum a-immatan wanaj'alahumu al-warithina
— Transliteration
And We wished to do a favour to those who were weak (and oppressed) in the land, and to make them rulers and to make them the inheritors

28:6
وَنُمَكِّنَ wanumakkina And [We] establish لَهُمۡ lahum them فِي fi in ٱلۡأَرۡضِ al-ardi the land وَنُرِيَ wanuriya and show فِرۡعَوۡنَ fir'awna Firaun وَهَٰمَٰنَ wahamana and Haman وَجُنُودَهُمَا wajunudahuma and their hosts مِنۡهُم min'hum through them مَّا ma what كَانُواْ kanu they were يَحۡذَرُونَ yahdharuna fearing ٦
wanumakkina lahum fi al-ardi wanuriya fir'awna wahamana wajunudahuma min'hum ma kanu yahdharuna
— Transliteration
And to establish them in the land, and We let Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and Haman and their hosts receive from them that which they feared

28:7
وَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ wa-awhayna And We inspired إِلَىٰٓ ila [to] أُمِّ ummi (the) mother مُوسَىٰٓ musa (of) Musa أَنۡ an that أَرۡضِعِيهِۖ ardi'ihi Suckle him فَإِذَا fa-idha but when خِفۡتِ khif'ti you fear عَلَيۡهِ alayhi for him فَأَلۡقِيهِ fa-alqihi then cast him فِي fi in(to) ٱلۡيَمِّ al-yami the river وَلَا wala and (do) not تَخَافِي takhafi fear وَلَا wala and (do) not تَحۡزَنِيٓۖ tahzani grieve إِنَّا inna Indeed We رَآدُّوهُ radduhu (will) restore him إِلَيۡكِ ilayki to you وَجَاعِلُوهُ waja'iluhu and (will) make him مِنَ mina of ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ al-mur'salina the Messengers ٧
wa-awhayna ila ummi musa an ardi'ihi fa-idha khif'ti alayhi fa-alqihi fi al-yami wala takhafi wala tahzani inna radduhu ilayki waja'iluhu mina al-mur'salina
— Transliteration
And We inspired the mother of Musa (Moses), (saying): "Suckle him [Musa (Moses)], but when you fear for him, then cast him into the river and fear not, nor grieve. Verily! We shall bring him back to you, and shall make him one of (Our) Messengers

28:8
فَٱلۡتَقَطَهُۥٓ fal-taqatahu Then picked him up ءَالُ alu (the) family فِرۡعَوۡنَ fir'awna (of) Firaun لِيَكُونَ liyakuna so that he might become لَهُمۡ lahum to them عَدُوّٗا aduwwan an enemy وَحَزَنًاۗ wahazanan and a grief إِنَّ inna Indeed فِرۡعَوۡنَ fir'awna Firaun وَهَٰمَٰنَ wahamana and Haman وَجُنُودَهُمَا wajunudahuma and their hosts كَانُواْ kanu were خَٰطِـِٔينَ khatiina sinners ٨
fal-taqatahu alu fir'awna liyakuna lahum aduwwan wahazanan inna fir'awna wahamana wajunudahuma kanu khatiina
— Transliteration
Then the household of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) picked him up, that he might become for them an enemy and a (cause of) grief. Verily! Fir'aun (Pharaoh), Haman and their hosts were sinners

28:9
وَقَالَتِ waqalati And said ٱمۡرَأَتُ im'ra-atu (the) wife فِرۡعَوۡنَ fir'awna (of) Firaun قُرَّتُ qurratu A comfort عَيۡنٖ aynin (of the) eye لِّي li for me وَلَكَۖ walaka and for you لَا la (Do) not تَقۡتُلُوهُ taqtuluhu kill him عَسَىٰٓ asa perhaps أَن an (that) يَنفَعَنَآ yanfa'ana he may benefit us أَوۡ aw or نَتَّخِذَهُۥ nattakhidhahu we may take him وَلَدٗا waladan (as) a son وَهُمۡ wahum And they لَا la (did) not يَشۡعُرُونَ yash'uruna perceive ٩
waqalati im'ra-atu fir'awna qurratu aynin li walaka la taqtuluhu asa an yanfa'ana aw nattakhidhahu waladan wahum la yash'uruna
— Transliteration
And the wife of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "A comfort of the eye for me and for you. Kill him not, perhaps he may be of benefit to us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceive not (the result of that)

28:10
وَأَصۡبَحَ wa-asbaha And became فُؤَادُ fuadu (the) heart أُمِّ ummi (of the) mother مُوسَىٰ musa (of) Musa فَٰرِغًاۖ farighan empty إِن in That كَادَتۡ kadat she was near لَتُبۡدِي latub'di (to) disclosing بِهِۦ bihi about him لَوۡلَآ lawla if not أَن an that رَّبَطۡنَا rabatna We strengthened عَلَىٰ ala [over] قَلۡبِهَا qalbiha her heart لِتَكُونَ litakuna so that she would be مِنَ mina of ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ al-mu'minina the believers ١٠
wa-asbaha fuadu ummi musa farighan in kadat latub'di bihi lawla an rabatna ala qalbiha litakuna mina al-mu'minina
— Transliteration
And the heart of the mother of Musa (Moses) became empty [from every thought, except the thought of Musa (Moses)]. She was very near to disclose his (case, i.e. the child is her son), had We not strengthened her heart (with Faith), so that she might remain as one of the believers
