الٓمٓ alif-lam-meem Alif Laam Meem ١
alif-lam-meem
— Transliteration
Alif-Lam-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings

29:2
أَحَسِبَ ahasiba Do think ٱلنَّاسُ al-nasu the people أَن an that يُتۡرَكُوٓاْ yut'raku they will be left أَن an because يَقُولُوٓاْ yaqulu they say ءَامَنَّا amanna We believe وَهُمۡ wahum and they لَا la will not be tested? يُفۡتَنُونَ yuf'tanuna will not be tested? ٢
ahasiba al-nasu an yut'raku an yaqulu amanna wahum la yuf'tanuna
— Transliteration
Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe," and will not be tested

29:3
وَلَقَدۡ walaqad And indeed فَتَنَّا fatanna We tested ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who مِن min (were) before them قَبۡلِهِمۡۖ qablihim (were) before them فَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّ falaya'lamanna And Allah will surely make evident ٱللَّهُ al-lahu And Allah will surely make evident ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who صَدَقُواْ sadaqu (are) truthful وَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّ walaya'lamanna and He will surely make evident ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ al-kadhibina the liars ٣
walaqad fatanna alladhina min qablihim falaya'lamanna al-lahu alladhina sadaqu walaya'lamanna al-kadhibina
— Transliteration
And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allah will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars, (although Allah knows all that before putting them to test)

29:4
أَمۡ am Or حَسِبَ hasiba think ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina those who يَعۡمَلُونَ ya'maluna do ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ al-sayiati evil deeds أَن an that يَسۡبِقُونَاۚ yasbiquna they can outrun Us سَآءَ saa Evil is مَا ma what يَحۡكُمُونَ yahkumuna they judge ٤
am hasiba alladhina ya'maluna al-sayiati an yasbiquna saa ma yahkumuna
— Transliteration
Or those who do evil deeds think that they can outstrip Us (i.e. escape Our Punishment)? Evil is that which they judge

29:5
مَن man Whoever كَانَ kana [is] يَرۡجُواْ yarju hopes لِقَآءَ liqaa (for the) meeting ٱللَّهِ al-lahi (with) Allah فَإِنَّ fa-inna then indeed أَجَلَ ajala (the) Term ٱللَّهِ al-lahi (of) Allah لَأٓتٖۚ laatin (is) surely coming وَهُوَ wahuwa And He ٱلسَّمِيعُ al-sami'u (is) the AllHearer ٱلۡعَلِيمُ al-'alimu the AllKnower ٥
man kana yarju liqaa al-lahi fa-inna ajala al-lahi laatin wahuwa al-sami'u al-'alimu
— Transliteration
Whoever hopes for the Meeting with Allah, then Allah's Term is surely coming. and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower

29:6
وَمَن waman And whoever جَٰهَدَ jahada strives فَإِنَّمَا fa-innama then only يُجَٰهِدُ yujahidu he strives لِنَفۡسِهِۦٓۚ linafsihi for himself إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah لَغَنِيٌّ laghaniyyun (is) Free from need عَنِ ani of ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ al-'alamina the worlds ٦
waman jahada fa-innama yujahidu linafsihi inna al-laha laghaniyyun ani al-'alamina
— Transliteration
And whosoever strives, he strives only for himself. Verily, Allah is free of all wants from the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists)

29:7
وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhina And those who ءَامَنُواْ amanu believe وَعَمِلُواْ wa'amilu and do ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ al-salihati righteous (deeds) لَنُكَفِّرَنَّ lanukaffiranna surely We will remove عَنۡهُمۡ anhum from them سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمۡ sayyiatihim their evil deeds وَلَنَجۡزِيَنَّهُمۡ walanajziyannahum and We will surely reward them أَحۡسَنَ ahsana (the) best ٱلَّذِي alladhi (of) what كَانُواْ kanu they used يَعۡمَلُونَ ya'maluna (to) do ٧
wa-alladhina amanu wa'amilu al-salihati lanukaffiranna anhum sayyiatihim walanajziyannahum ahsana alladhi kanu ya'maluna
— Transliteration
Those who believe [in the Oneness of Allah (Monotheism) and in Messenger Muhammad SAW, and do not apostate because of the harm they receive from the polytheists], and do righteous good deeds, surely, We shall remit from them their evil deeds and shall reward them according to the best of that which they used to do

29:8
وَوَصَّيۡنَا wawassayna And We have enjoined ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ al-insana (on) man بِوَٰلِدَيۡهِ biwalidayhi goodness to his parents حُسۡنٗاۖ hus'nan goodness to his parents وَإِن wa-in but if جَٰهَدَاكَ jahadaka they both strive against you لِتُشۡرِكَ litush'rika to make you associate بِي bi with Me مَا ma what لَيۡسَ laysa not لَكَ laka you have بِهِۦ bihi of it عِلۡمٞ il'mun any knowledge فَلَا fala then (do) not تُطِعۡهُمَآۚ tuti'huma obey both of them إِلَيَّ ilayya To Me مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ marji'ukum (is) your return فَأُنَبِّئُكُم fa-unabbi-ukum and I will inform you بِمَا bima about what كُنتُمۡ kuntum you used تَعۡمَلُونَ ta'maluna (to) do ٨
wawassayna al-insana biwalidayhi hus'nan wa-in jahadaka litush'rika bi ma laysa laka bihi il'mun fala tuti'huma ilayya marji'ukum fa-unabbi-ukum bima kuntum ta'maluna
— Transliteration
And We have enjoined on man to be good and dutiful to his parents, but if they strive to make you join with Me (in worship) anything (as a partner) of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not. Unto Me is your return, and I shall tell you what you used to do

29:9
وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhina And those who ءَامَنُواْ amanu believe وَعَمِلُواْ wa'amilu and do ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ al-salihati righteous deeds لَنُدۡخِلَنَّهُمۡ lanud'khilannahum We will surely admit them فِي fi among ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ al-salihina the righteous ٩
wa-alladhina amanu wa'amilu al-salihati lanud'khilannahum fi al-salihina
— Transliteration
And for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah and other items of Faith) and do righteous good deeds, surely, We shall make them enter in (the enterance of) the righteous (i.e. in Paradise)

29:10
وَمِنَ wamina And of ٱلنَّاسِ al-nasi the people مَن man (is he) who يَقُولُ yaqulu says ءَامَنَّا amanna We believe بِٱللَّهِ bil-lahi in Allah فَإِذَآ fa-idha But when أُوذِيَ udhiya he is harmed فِي fi in ٱللَّهِ al-lahi (the Way of) Allah جَعَلَ ja'ala he considers فِتۡنَةَ fit'nata (the) trial ٱلنَّاسِ al-nasi (of) the people كَعَذَابِ ka'adhabi as (the) punishment ٱللَّهِۖ al-lahi (of) Allah وَلَئِن wala-in But if جَآءَ jaa comes نَصۡرٞ nasrun victory مِّن min from رَّبِّكَ rabbika your Lord لَيَقُولُنَّ layaqulunna surely they say إِنَّا inna Indeed we كُنَّا kunna were مَعَكُمۡۚ ma'akum with you أَوَلَيۡسَ awalaysa Is not ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah بِأَعۡلَمَ bi-a'lama most knowing بِمَا bima of what فِي fi (is) in صُدُورِ suduri (the) breasts ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ al-'alamina (of) the worlds? ١٠
wamina al-nasi man yaqulu amanna bil-lahi fa-idha udhiya fi al-lahi ja'ala fit'nata al-nasi ka'adhabi al-lahi wala-in jaa nasrun min rabbika layaqulunna inna kunna ma'akum awalaysa al-lahu bi-a'lama bima fi suduri al-'alamina
— Transliteration
Of mankind are some who say: "We believe in Allah," but if they are made to suffer for the sake of Allah, they consider the trial of mankind as Allah's punishment, and if victory comes from your Lord, (the hypocrites) will say: "Verily! We were with you (helping you)." Is not Allah Best Aware of what is in the breast of the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns)
