29:1
الٓمٓalif-lam-meemAlif Laam Meem١
alif-lam-meem — Transliteration
Alif-Lam-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings — English - Hilali & Khan
29:2
أَحَسِبَahasibaDo thinkٱلنَّاسُal-nasuthe peopleأَنanthatيُتۡرَكُوٓاْyut'rakuthey will be leftأَنanbecauseيَقُولُوٓاْyaquluthey sayءَامَنَّاamannaWe believeوَهُمۡwahumand theyلَاlawill not be tested?يُفۡتَنُونَyuf'tanunawill not be tested?٢
ahasiba al-nasu an yut'raku an yaqulu amanna wahum la yuf'tanuna — Transliteration
Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe," and will not be tested — English - Hilali & Khan
29:3
وَلَقَدۡwalaqadAnd indeedفَتَنَّاfatannaWe testedٱلَّذِينَalladhinathose whoمِنmin(were) before themقَبۡلِهِمۡۖqablihim(were) before themفَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّfalaya'lamannaAnd Allah will surely make evidentٱللَّهُal-lahuAnd Allah will surely make evidentٱلَّذِينَalladhinathose whoصَدَقُواْsadaqu(are) truthfulوَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّwalaya'lamannaand He will surely make evidentٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَal-kadhibinathe liars٣
And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allah will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars, (although Allah knows all that before putting them to test) — English - Hilali & Khan
29:4
أَمۡamOrحَسِبَhasibathinkٱلَّذِينَalladhinathose whoيَعۡمَلُونَya'malunadoٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِal-sayiatievil deedsأَنanthatيَسۡبِقُونَاۚyasbiqunathey can outrun UsسَآءَsaaEvil isمَاmawhatيَحۡكُمُونَyahkumunathey judge٤
am hasiba alladhina ya'maluna al-sayiati an yasbiquna saa ma yahkumuna — Transliteration
Or those who do evil deeds think that they can outstrip Us (i.e. escape Our Punishment)? Evil is that which they judge — English - Hilali & Khan
And whosoever strives, he strives only for himself. Verily, Allah is free of all wants from the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists) — English - Hilali & Khan

وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhinaAnd those whoءَامَنُواْamanubelieveوَعَمِلُواْwa'amiluand doٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِal-salihatirighteous (deeds)لَنُكَفِّرَنَّlanukaffirannasurely We will removeعَنۡهُمۡanhumfrom themسَيِّـَٔاتِهِمۡsayyiatihimtheir evil deedsوَلَنَجۡزِيَنَّهُمۡwalanajziyannahumand We will surely reward themأَحۡسَنَahsana(the) bestٱلَّذِيalladhi(of) whatكَانُواْkanuthey usedيَعۡمَلُونَya'maluna(to) do٧
Those who believe [in the Oneness of Allah (Monotheism) and in Messenger Muhammad SAW, and do not apostate because of the harm they receive from the polytheists], and do righteous good deeds, surely, We shall remit from them their evil deeds and shall reward them according to the best of that which they used to do — English - Hilali & Khan
29:8
وَوَصَّيۡنَاwawassaynaAnd We have enjoinedٱلۡإِنسَٰنَal-insana(on) manبِوَٰلِدَيۡهِbiwalidayhigoodness to his parentsحُسۡنٗاۖhus'nangoodness to his parentsوَإِنwa-inbut ifجَٰهَدَاكَjahadakathey both strive against youلِتُشۡرِكَlitush'rikato make you associateبِيbiwith Meمَاmawhatلَيۡسَlaysanotلَكَlakayou haveبِهِۦbihiof itعِلۡمٞil'munany knowledgeفَلَاfalathen (do) notتُطِعۡهُمَآۚtuti'humaobey both of themإِلَيَّilayyaTo Meمَرۡجِعُكُمۡmarji'ukum(is) your returnفَأُنَبِّئُكُمfa-unabbi-ukumand I will inform youبِمَاbimaabout whatكُنتُمۡkuntumyou usedتَعۡمَلُونَta'maluna(to) do٨
wawassayna al-insana biwalidayhi hus'nan wa-in jahadaka litush'rika bi ma laysa laka bihi il'mun fala tuti'huma ilayya marji'ukum fa-unabbi-ukum bima kuntum ta'maluna — Transliteration
And We have enjoined on man to be good and dutiful to his parents, but if they strive to make you join with Me (in worship) anything (as a partner) of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not. Unto Me is your return, and I shall tell you what you used to do — English - Hilali & Khan
29:9
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhinaAnd those whoءَامَنُواْamanubelieveوَعَمِلُواْwa'amiluand doٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِal-salihatirighteous deedsلَنُدۡخِلَنَّهُمۡlanud'khilannahumWe will surely admit themفِيfiamongٱلصَّٰلِحِينَal-salihinathe righteous٩
wa-alladhina amanu wa'amilu al-salihati lanud'khilannahum fi al-salihina — Transliteration
And for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah and other items of Faith) and do righteous good deeds, surely, We shall make them enter in (the enterance of) the righteous (i.e. in Paradise) — English - Hilali & Khan
29:10
وَمِنَwaminaAnd ofٱلنَّاسِal-nasithe peopleمَنman(is he) whoيَقُولُyaqulusaysءَامَنَّاamannaWe believeبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahفَإِذَآfa-idhaBut whenأُوذِيَudhiyahe is harmedفِيfiinٱللَّهِal-lahi(the Way of) Allahجَعَلَja'alahe considersفِتۡنَةَfit'nata(the) trialٱلنَّاسِal-nasi(of) the peopleكَعَذَابِka'adhabias (the) punishmentٱللَّهِۖal-lahi(of) Allahوَلَئِنwala-inBut ifجَآءَjaacomesنَصۡرٞnasrunvictoryمِّنminfromرَّبِّكَrabbikayour Lordلَيَقُولُنَّlayaqulunnasurely they sayإِنَّاinnaIndeed weكُنَّاkunnawereمَعَكُمۡۚma'akumwith youأَوَلَيۡسَawalaysaIs notٱللَّهُal-lahuAllahبِأَعۡلَمَbi-a'lamamost knowingبِمَاbimaof whatفِيfi(is) inصُدُورِsuduri(the) breastsٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَal-'alamina(of) the worlds?١٠
wamina al-nasi man yaqulu amanna bil-lahi fa-idha udhiya fi al-lahi ja'ala fit'nata al-nasi ka'adhabi al-lahi wala-in jaa nasrun min rabbika layaqulunna inna kunna ma'akum awalaysa al-lahu bi-a'lama bima fi suduri al-'alamina — Transliteration
Of mankind are some who say: "We believe in Allah," but if they are made to suffer for the sake of Allah, they consider the trial of mankind as Allah's punishment, and if victory comes from your Lord, (the hypocrites) will say: "Verily! We were with you (helping you)." Is not Allah Best Aware of what is in the breast of the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns) — English - Hilali & Khan
