الصَّمَدُٱلصَّمَدُl-ṣamaduthe Eternal the Absoluteاللَّهُٱللَّهُal-lahuAllah
qala rabbi inni wahana al-'azmu minni wa-ish'ta'ala al-rasu shayban walam akun bidu'aika rabbi shaqiyyan — Transliteration
Saying: "My Lord! Indeed my bones have grown feeble, and grey hair has spread on my head, And I have never been unblest in my invocation to You, O my Lord — English - Hilali & Khan
wa-inni khif'tu al-mawaliya min warai wakanati im'ra-ati aqiran fahab li min ladunka waliyyan — Transliteration
And Verily! I fear my relatives after me, since my wife is barren. So give me from Yourself an heir — English - Hilali & Khan
19:6
يَرِثُنِيyarithuniWho will inherit meوَيَرِثُwayarithuand inheritمِنۡminfromءَالِali(the) familyيَعۡقُوبَۖya'quba(of) Yaqubوَٱجۡعَلۡهُwa-ij'alhuAnd make himرَبِّrabbimy Lordرَضِيّٗاradiyyanpleasing٦
yarithuni wayarithu min ali ya'quba wa-ij'alhu rabbi radiyyan — Transliteration
Who shall inherit me, and inherit (also) the posterity of Ya'qub (Jacob) (inheritance of the religious knowledge and Prophethood, not the wealth, etc.). And make him, my Lord, one with whom You are Well-pleased — English - Hilali & Khan
19:7
يَٰزَكَرِيَّآyazakariyyaO Zakariya!إِنَّاinnaIndeed Weنُبَشِّرُكَnubashiruka[We] give you glad tidingsبِغُلَٰمٍbighulaminof a boyٱسۡمُهُۥus'muhuhis nameيَحۡيَىٰyahya(will be) Yahyaلَمۡlamnotنَجۡعَلnaj'alWe (have) assignedلَّهُۥlahu[for] itمِنminbeforeقَبۡلُqablubeforeسَمِيّٗاsamiyyan(this) name٧
(Allah said) "O Zakariya (Zachariah)! Verily, We give you the glad tidings of a son, His name will be Yahya (John). We have given that name to none before (him) — English - Hilali & Khan
19:8
قَالَqalaHe saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lord!أَنَّىٰannaHowيَكُونُyakunucanلِيliI haveغُلَٰمٞghulamuna boyوَكَانَتِwakanatiwhile isٱمۡرَأَتِيim'ra-atimy wifeعَاقِرٗاaqiranbarrenوَقَدۡwaqadand indeedبَلَغۡتُbalaghtuI have reachedمِنَminaofٱلۡكِبَرِal-kibarithe old ageعِتِيّٗاitiyyanextreme?٨
qala rabbi anna yakunu li ghulamun wakanati im'ra-ati aqiran waqad balaghtu mina al-kibari itiyyan — Transliteration
He said: "My Lord! How can I have a son, when my wife is barren, and I have reached the extreme old age — English - Hilali & Khan
19:9
قَالَqalaHe saidكَذَٰلِكَkadhalikaThusقَالَqalasaidرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordهُوَhuwa'Itعَلَيَّalayya(is) easy for Meهَيِّنٞhayyinun(is) easy for Meوَقَدۡwaqadand certainlyخَلَقۡتُكَkhalaqtukaI (have) created youمِنminbeforeقَبۡلُqablubeforeوَلَمۡwalamwhile notتَكُtakuyou wereشَيۡـٔٗاshayananything'٩
qala kadhalika qala rabbuka huwa alayya hayyinun waqad khalaqtuka min qablu walam taku shayan — Transliteration
He said: "So (it will be). Your Lord says; It is easy for Me. Certainly I have created you before, when you had been nothing — English - Hilali & Khan
19:10
قَالَqalaHe saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lord!ٱجۡعَلij'alMakeلِّيٓlifor meءَايَةٗۖayatana signقَالَqalaHe saidءَايَتُكَayatukaYour signأَلَّاalla(is) that notتُكَلِّمَtukallimayou will speakٱلنَّاسَal-nasa(to) the peopleثَلَٰثَthalatha(for) threeلَيَالٖlayalinnightsسَوِيّٗاsawiyyansound١٠
qala rabbi ij'al li ayatan qala ayatuka alla tukallima al-nasa thalatha layalin sawiyyan — Transliteration
Zakariya (Zachariah)] said: "My Lord! Appoint for me a sign." He said: "Your sign is that you shall not speak unto mankind for three nights, though having no bodily defect — English - Hilali & Khan
