63:1
إِذَا idha When جَآءَكَ jaaka come to you ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقُونَ al-munafiquna the hypocrites قَالُواْ qalu they say نَشۡهَدُ nashhadu We testify إِنَّكَ innaka that you لَرَسُولُ larasulu (are) surely (the) Messenger ٱللَّهِۗ al-lahi (of) Allah وَٱللَّهُ wal-lahu And Allah يَعۡلَمُ ya'lamu knows إِنَّكَ innaka that you لَرَسُولُهُۥ larasuluhu (are) surely His Messenger وَٱللَّهُ wal-lahu and Allah يَشۡهَدُ yashhadu testifies إِنَّ inna that ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ al-munafiqina the hypocrites لَكَٰذِبُونَ lakadhibuna (are) surely liars ١
idha jaaka al-munafiquna qalu nashhadu innaka larasulu al-lahi wal-lahu ya'lamu innaka larasuluhu wal-lahu yashhadu inna al-munafiqina lakadhibuna
— Transliteration
When the hypocrites come to you (O Muhammad SAW), they say: "We bear witness that you are indeed the Messenger of Allah." Allah knows that you are indeed His Messenger and Allah bears witness that the hypocrites are liars indeed

63:2
ٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ ittakhadhu They take أَيۡمَٰنَهُمۡ aymanahum their oaths جُنَّةٗ junnatan (as) a cover فَصَدُّواْ fasaddu so they turn away عَن an from سَبِيلِ sabili (the) Way ٱللَّهِۚ al-lahi (of) Allah إِنَّهُمۡ innahum Indeed [they] سَآءَ saa evil is مَا ma what كَانُواْ kanu they used to يَعۡمَلُونَ ya'maluna do ٢
ittakhadhu aymanahum junnatan fasaddu an sabili al-lahi innahum saa ma kanu ya'maluna
— Transliteration
They have made their oaths a screen (for their hypocrisy). Thus they hinder (men) from the Path of Allah. Verily, evil is what they used to do

63:3
ذَٰلِكَ dhalika That بِأَنَّهُمۡ bi-annahum (is) because ءَامَنُواْ amanu they believed ثُمَّ thumma then كَفَرُواْ kafaru they disbelieved فَطُبِعَ fatubi'a so were sealed عَلَىٰ ala [upon] قُلُوبِهِمۡ qulubihim their hearts فَهُمۡ fahum so they لَا la (do) not يَفۡقَهُونَ yafqahuna understand ٣
dhalika bi-annahum amanu thumma kafaru fatubi'a ala qulubihim fahum la yafqahuna
— Transliteration
That is because they believed, then disbelieved, therefore their hearts are sealed, so they understand not

63:4
۞وَإِذَا wa-idha And when رَأَيۡتَهُمۡ ra-aytahum you see them تُعۡجِبُكَ tu'jibuka pleases you أَجۡسَامُهُمۡۖ ajsamuhum their bodies وَإِن wa-in and if يَقُولُواْ yaqulu they speak تَسۡمَعۡ tasma' you listen لِقَوۡلِهِمۡۖ liqawlihim to their speech كَأَنَّهُمۡ ka-annahum as if they (were) خُشُبٞ khushubun pieces of wood مُّسَنَّدَةٞۖ musannadatun propped up يَحۡسَبُونَ yahsabuna They think كُلَّ kulla every صَيۡحَةٍ sayhatin shout عَلَيۡهِمۡۚ alayhim (is) against them هُمُ humu They ٱلۡعَدُوُّ al-'aduwu (are) the enemy فَٱحۡذَرۡهُمۡۚ fa-ih'dharhum so beware of them قَٰتَلَهُمُ qatalahumu May destroy them ٱللَّهُۖ al-lahu Allah! أَنَّىٰ anna How يُؤۡفَكُونَ yu'fakuna are they deluded? ٤
wa-idha ra-aytahum tu'jibuka ajsamuhum wa-in yaqulu tasma' liqawlihim ka-annahum khushubun musannadatun yahsabuna kulla sayhatin alayhim humu al-'aduwu fa-ih'dharhum qatalahumu al-lahu anna yu'fakuna
— Transliteration
And when you look at them, their bodies please you; and when they speak, you listen to their words. They are as blocks of wood propped up. They think that every cry is against them. They are the enemies, so beware of them. May Allah curse them! How are they denying (or deviating from) the Right Path

63:5
وَإِذَا wa-idha And when قِيلَ qila it is said لَهُمۡ lahum to them تَعَالَوۡاْ ta'alaw Come يَسۡتَغۡفِرۡ yastaghfir will ask forgiveness لَكُمۡ lakum for you رَسُولُ rasulu (the) Messenger ٱللَّهِ al-lahi (of) Allah لَوَّوۡاْ lawwaw They turn aside رُءُوسَهُمۡ ruusahum their heads وَرَأَيۡتَهُمۡ wara-aytahum and you see them يَصُدُّونَ yasudduna turning away وَهُم wahum while they مُّسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ mus'takbiruna (are) arrogant ٥
wa-idha qila lahum ta'alaw yastaghfir lakum rasulu al-lahi lawwaw ruusahum wara-aytahum yasudduna wahum mus'takbiruna
— Transliteration
And when it is said to them: "Come, so that the Messenger of Allah may ask forgiveness from Allah for you", they turn aside their heads, and you would see them turning away their faces in pride

63:6
سَوَآءٌ sawaon (It) is same عَلَيۡهِمۡ alayhim for them أَسۡتَغۡفَرۡتَ astaghfarta whether you ask forgiveness لَهُمۡ lahum for them أَمۡ am or لَمۡ lam (do) not تَسۡتَغۡفِرۡ tastaghfir ask forgiveness لَهُمۡ lahum for them لَن lan Never يَغۡفِرَ yaghfira will forgive ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah لَهُمۡۚ lahum [to] them إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah لَا la (does) not يَهۡدِي yahdi guide ٱلۡقَوۡمَ al-qawma the people ٱلۡفَٰسِقِينَ al-fasiqina the defiantly disobedient ٦
sawaon alayhim astaghfarta lahum am lam tastaghfir lahum lan yaghfira al-lahu lahum inna al-laha la yahdi al-qawma al-fasiqina
— Transliteration
It is equal to them whether you (Muhammad SAW) ask forgiveness or ask not forgiveness for them. Verily, Allah guides not the people who are the Fasiqin (rebellious, disobedient to Allah)

63:7
هُمُ humu They ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina (are) those who يَقُولُونَ yaquluna say لَا la (Do) not تُنفِقُواْ tunfiqu spend عَلَىٰ ala on مَنۡ man (those) who عِندَ inda (are) with رَسُولِ rasuli (the) Messenger ٱللَّهِ al-lahi (of) Allah حَتَّىٰ hatta until يَنفَضُّواْۗ yanfaddu they disband وَلِلَّهِ walillahi And for Allah خَزَآئِنُ khazainu (are the) treasures ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ al-samawati (of) the heavens وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ wal-ardi and the earth وَلَٰكِنَّ walakinna but ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ al-munafiqina the hypocrites لَا la (do) not يَفۡقَهُونَ yafqahuna understand ٧
humu alladhina yaquluna la tunfiqu ala man inda rasuli al-lahi hatta yanfaddu walillahi khazainu al-samawati wal-ardi walakinna al-munafiqina la yafqahuna
— Transliteration
They are the ones who say: "Spend not on those who are with Allah's Messenger, until they desert him." And to Allah belong the treasures of the heavens and the earth, but the hypocrites comprehend not

63:8
يَقُولُونَ yaquluna They say لَئِن la-in If رَّجَعۡنَآ raja'na we return إِلَى ila to ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ al-madinati AlMadinah لَيُخۡرِجَنَّ layukh'rijanna surely will expel ٱلۡأَعَزُّ al-a'azu the more honorable مِنۡهَا min'ha from it ٱلۡأَذَلَّۚ al-adhala the more humble وَلِلَّهِ walillahi But for Allah ٱلۡعِزَّةُ al-'izatu (is) the honor وَلِرَسُولِهِۦ walirasulihi and for His Messenger وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ walil'mu'minina and for the believers وَلَٰكِنَّ walakinna but ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ al-munafiqina the hypocrites لَا la (do) not يَعۡلَمُونَ ya'lamuna know ٨
yaquluna la-in raja'na ila al-madinati layukh'rijanna al-a'azu min'ha al-adhala walillahi al-'izatu walirasulihi walil'mu'minina walakinna al-munafiqina la ya'lamuna
— Transliteration
They (hyprocrites) say: "If we return to Al-Madinah, indeed the more honourable ('Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul, the chief of hyprocrites at Al-Madinah) will expel therefrom the meaner (i.e. Allah's Messenger SAW)." But honour, power and glory belong to Allah, His Messenger (Muhammad SAW), and to the believers, but the hypocrites know not

63:9
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuha O ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina you (who) ءَامَنُواْ amanu believe! لَا la (Let) not تُلۡهِكُمۡ tul'hikum divert you أَمۡوَٰلُكُمۡ amwalukum your wealth وَلَآ wala and not أَوۡلَٰدُكُمۡ awladukum your children عَن an from ذِكۡرِ dhik'ri (the) remembrance ٱللَّهِۚ al-lahi (of) Allah وَمَن waman And whoever يَفۡعَلۡ yaf 'al does ذَٰلِكَ dhalika that فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ fa-ulaika then those هُمُ humu [they] ٱلۡخَٰسِرُونَ al-khasiruna (are) the losers ٩
yaayyuha alladhina amanu la tul'hikum amwalukum wala awladukum an dhik'ri al-lahi waman yaf 'al dhalika fa-ulaika humu al-khasiruna
— Transliteration
O you who believe! Let not your properties or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. And whosoever does that, then they are the losers

63:10
وَأَنفِقُواْ wa-anfiqu And spend مِن min from مَّا ma what رَزَقۡنَٰكُم razaqnakum We have provided you مِّن min from قَبۡلِ qabli before أَن an [that] يَأۡتِيَ yatiya comes أَحَدَكُمُ ahadakumu (to) one of you ٱلۡمَوۡتُ al-mawtu the death فَيَقُولَ fayaqula and he says رَبِّ rabbi My Lord! لَوۡلَآ lawla Why not أَخَّرۡتَنِيٓ akhartani You delay me إِلَىٰٓ ila for أَجَلٖ ajalin a term قَرِيبٖ qaribin near فَأَصَّدَّقَ fa-assaddaqa so I would give charity وَأَكُن wa-akun and be مِّنَ mina among ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ al-salihina the righteous ١٠
wa-anfiqu min ma razaqnakum min qabli an yatiya ahadakumu al-mawtu fayaqula rabbi lawla akhartani ila ajalin qaribin fa-assaddaqa wa-akun mina al-salihina
— Transliteration
And spend (in charity) of that with which We have provided you, before death comes to one of you and he says: "My Lord! If only You would give me respite for a little while (i.e. return to the worldly life), then I should give Sadaqah (i.e. Zakat) of my wealth, and be among the righteous [i.e. perform Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah]
