66:1
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuha O ٱلنَّبِيُّ al-nabiyu Prophet! لِمَ lima Why (do) تُحَرِّمُ tuharrimu you prohibit مَآ ma what أَحَلَّ ahalla has made lawful ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah لَكَۖ laka for you تَبۡتَغِي tabtaghi seeking مَرۡضَاتَ mardata (to) please أَزۡوَٰجِكَۚ azwajika your wives? وَٱللَّهُ wal-lahu And Allah غَفُورٞ ghafurun (is) OftForgiving رَّحِيمٞ rahimun Most Merciful ١
yaayyuha al-nabiyu lima tuharrimu ma ahalla al-lahu laka tabtaghi mardata azwajika wal-lahu ghafurun rahimun
— Transliteration
O Prophet! Why do you ban (for yourself) that which Allah has made lawful to you, seeking to please your wives? And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful

66:2
قَدۡ qad Indeed فَرَضَ farada has ordained ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah لَكُمۡ lakum for you تَحِلَّةَ tahillata (the) dissolution أَيۡمَٰنِكُمۡۚ aymanikum (of) your oaths وَٱللَّهُ wal-lahu And Allah مَوۡلَىٰكُمۡۖ mawlakum (is) your Protector وَهُوَ wahuwa and He ٱلۡعَلِيمُ al-'alimu (is) the AllKnower ٱلۡحَكِيمُ al-hakimu the AllWise ٢
qad farada al-lahu lakum tahillata aymanikum wal-lahu mawlakum wahuwa al-'alimu al-hakimu
— Transliteration
Allah has already ordained for you (O men), the dissolution of your oaths. And Allah is your Maula (Lord, or Master, or Protector, etc.) and He is the All-Knower, the All-Wise

66:3
وَإِذۡ wa-idh And when أَسَرَّ asarra confided ٱلنَّبِيُّ al-nabiyu the Prophet إِلَىٰ ila to بَعۡضِ ba'di one أَزۡوَٰجِهِۦ azwajihi (of) his wives حَدِيثٗا hadithan a statement فَلَمَّا falamma and when نَبَّأَتۡ nabba-at she informed بِهِۦ bihi about it وَأَظۡهَرَهُ wa-azharahu and made it apparent ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah عَلَيۡهِ alayhi to him عَرَّفَ arrafa he made known بَعۡضَهُۥ ba'dahu a part of it وَأَعۡرَضَ wa-a'rada and avoided عَنۢ an [of] بَعۡضٖۖ ba'din a part فَلَمَّا falamma Then when نَبَّأَهَا nabba-aha he informed her بِهِۦ bihi about it قَالَتۡ qalat she said مَنۡ man Who أَنۢبَأَكَ anba-aka informed you هَٰذَاۖ hadha this? قَالَ qala He said نَبَّأَنِيَ nabba-aniya Has informed me ٱلۡعَلِيمُ al-'alimu the AllKnower ٱلۡخَبِيرُ al-khabiru the AllAware ٣
wa-idh asarra al-nabiyu ila ba'di azwajihi hadithan falamma nabba-at bihi wa-azharahu al-lahu alayhi arrafa ba'dahu wa-a'rada an ba'din falamma nabba-aha bihi qalat man anba-aka hadha qala nabba-aniya al-'alimu al-khabiru
— Transliteration
And (remember) when the Prophet (SAW) disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his wives (Hafsah), so when she told it (to another i.e. 'Aishah), and Allah made it known to him, he informed part thereof and left a part. Then when he told her (Hafsah) thereof, she said: "Who told you this?" He said: "The All-Knower, the All-Aware (Allah) has told me

66:4
إِن in If تَتُوبَآ tatuba you both turn إِلَى ila to ٱللَّهِ al-lahi Allah فَقَدۡ faqad so indeed صَغَتۡ saghat (are) inclined قُلُوبُكُمَاۖ qulubukuma your hearts وَإِن wa-in but if تَظَٰهَرَا tazahara you backup each other عَلَيۡهِ alayhi against him فَإِنَّ fa-inna then indeed ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah هُوَ huwa He مَوۡلَىٰهُ mawlahu (is) his Protector وَجِبۡرِيلُ wajib'rilu and Jibreel وَصَٰلِحُ wasalihu and (the) righteous ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَۖ al-mu'minina believers وَٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ wal-malaikatu and the Angels بَعۡدَ ba'da after ذَٰلِكَ dhalika that ظَهِيرٌ zahirun (are his) assistants ٤
in tatuba ila al-lahi faqad saghat qulubukuma wa-in tazahara alayhi fa-inna al-laha huwa mawlahu wajib'rilu wasalihu al-mu'minina wal-malaikatu ba'da dhalika zahirun
— Transliteration
If you two (wives of the Prophet SAW, namely 'Aishah and Hafsah) turn in repentance to Allah, (it will be better for you), your hearts are indeed so inclined (to oppose what the Prophet SAW likes), but if you help one another against him (Muhammad SAW), then verily, Allah is his Maula (Lord, or Master, or Protector, etc.), and Jibrael (Gabriel), and the righteous among the believers, and furthermore, the angels are his helpers

66:5
عَسَىٰ asa Perhaps رَبُّهُۥٓ rabbuhu his Lord إِن in if طَلَّقَكُنَّ tallaqakunna he divorced you أَن an [that] يُبۡدِلَهُۥٓ yub'dilahu He will substitute for him أَزۡوَٰجًا azwajan wives خَيۡرٗا khayran better مِّنكُنَّ minkunna than you مُسۡلِمَٰتٖ mus'limatin submissive مُّؤۡمِنَٰتٖ mu'minatin faithful قَٰنِتَٰتٖ qanitatin obedient تَٰٓئِبَٰتٍ taibatin repentant عَٰبِدَٰتٖ abidatin who worship سَٰٓئِحَٰتٖ saihatin who fast ثَيِّبَٰتٖ thayyibatin previously married وَأَبۡكَارٗا wa-abkaran and virgins ٥
asa rabbuhu in tallaqakunna an yub'dilahu azwajan khayran minkunna mus'limatin mu'minatin qanitatin taibatin abidatin saihatin thayyibatin wa-abkaran
— Transliteration
It may be if he divorced you (all) that his Lord will give him instead of you, wives better than you, Muslims (who submit to Allah), believers, obedient to Allah, turning to Allah in repentance, worshipping Allah sincerely, fasting or emigrants (for Allah's sake), previously married and virgins

66:6
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuha O ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina (you) who ءَامَنُواْ amanu believe! قُوٓاْ qu Protect أَنفُسَكُمۡ anfusakum yourselves وَأَهۡلِيكُمۡ wa-ahlikum and your families نَارٗا naran (from) a Fire وَقُودُهَا waquduha whose fuel ٱلنَّاسُ al-nasu (is) people وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُ wal-hijaratu and stones عَلَيۡهَا alayha over it مَلَٰٓئِكَةٌ malaikatun (are) Angels غِلَاظٞ ghilazun stern شِدَادٞ shidadun severe لَّا la not يَعۡصُونَ ya'suna they disobey ٱللَّهَ al-laha Allah مَآ ma (in) what أَمَرَهُمۡ amarahum He Commands them وَيَفۡعَلُونَ wayaf 'aluna but they do مَا ma what يُؤۡمَرُونَ yu'maruna they are commanded ٦
yaayyuha alladhina amanu qu anfusakum wa-ahlikum naran waquduha al-nasu wal-hijaratu alayha malaikatun ghilazun shidadun la ya'suna al-laha ma amarahum wayaf 'aluna ma yu'maruna
— Transliteration
O you who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who disobey not, (from executing) the Commands they receive from Allah, but do that which they are commanded

66:7
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuha O ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina (you) who كَفَرُواْ kafaru disbelieve! لَا la (Do) not تَعۡتَذِرُواْ ta'tadhiru make excuses ٱلۡيَوۡمَۖ al-yawma today إِنَّمَا innama Only تُجۡزَوۡنَ tuj'zawna you will be recompensed مَا ma (for) what كُنتُمۡ kuntum you used to تَعۡمَلُونَ ta'maluna do ٧
yaayyuha alladhina kafaru la ta'tadhiru al-yawma innama tuj'zawna ma kuntum ta'maluna
— Transliteration
(It will be said in the Hereafter) O you who disbelieve (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism)! Make no excuses this Day! You are being requited only for what you used to do

66:8
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuha O ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina (you) who believe ءَامَنُواْ amanu believe! تُوبُوٓاْ tubu Turn إِلَى ila to ٱللَّهِ al-lahi Allah تَوۡبَةٗ tawbatan (in) repentance نَّصُوحًا nasuhan sincere! عَسَىٰ asa Perhaps رَبُّكُمۡ rabbukum your Lord أَن an will يُكَفِّرَ yukaffira remove عَنكُمۡ ankum from you سَيِّـَٔاتِكُمۡ sayyiatikum your evil deeds وَيُدۡخِلَكُمۡ wayud'khilakum and admit you جَنَّٰتٖ jannatin (into) Gardens تَجۡرِي tajri flow مِن min from تَحۡتِهَا tahtiha underneath it ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ al-anharu the rivers يَوۡمَ yawma (on the) Day لَا la not يُخۡزِي yukh'zi will be disgraced ٱللَّهُ al-lahu (by) Allah ٱلنَّبِيَّ al-nabiya the Prophet وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhina and those who ءَامَنُواْ amanu believed مَعَهُۥۖ ma'ahu with him نُورُهُمۡ nuruhum Their light يَسۡعَىٰ yas'a will run بَيۡنَ bayna before أَيۡدِيهِمۡ aydihim their hands وَبِأَيۡمَٰنِهِمۡ wabi-aymanihim and on their right يَقُولُونَ yaquluna they will say رَبَّنَآ rabbana Our Lord أَتۡمِمۡ atmim Perfect لَنَا lana for us نُورَنَا nurana our light وَٱغۡفِرۡ wa-igh'fir and grant forgiveness لَنَآۖ lana to us إِنَّكَ innaka Indeed You عَلَىٰ ala (are) over كُلِّ kulli every شَيۡءٖ shayin thing قَدِيرٞ qadirun AllPowerful ٨
yaayyuha alladhina amanu tubu ila al-lahi tawbatan nasuhan asa rabbukum an yukaffira ankum sayyiatikum wayud'khilakum jannatin tajri min tahtiha al-anharu yawma la yukh'zi al-lahu al-nabiya wa-alladhina amanu ma'ahu nuruhum yas'a bayna aydihim wabi-aymanihim yaquluna rabbana atmim lana nurana wa-igh'fir lana innaka ala kulli shayin qadirun
— Transliteration
O you who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance! It may be that your Lord will remit from you your sins, and admit you into Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise) the Day that Allah will not disgrace the Prophet (Muhammad SAW) and those who believe with him, their Light will run forward before them and with (their Records Books of deeds) in their right hands they will say: "Our Lord! Keep perfect our Light for us [and do not put it off till we cross over the Sirat (a slippery bridge over the Hell) safely] and grant us forgiveness. Verily, You are Able to do all things

66:9
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuha O ٱلنَّبِيُّ al-nabiyu Prophet! جَٰهِدِ jahidi Strive ٱلۡكُفَّارَ al-kufara (against) the disbelievers وَٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ wal-munafiqina and the hypocrites وَٱغۡلُظۡ wa-ugh'luz and be stern عَلَيۡهِمۡۚ alayhim with them وَمَأۡوَىٰهُمۡ wamawahum And their abode جَهَنَّمُۖ jahannamu (is) Hell وَبِئۡسَ wabi'sa and wretched is ٱلۡمَصِيرُ al-masiru the destination ٩
yaayyuha al-nabiyu jahidi al-kufara wal-munafiqina wa-ugh'luz alayhim wamawahum jahannamu wabi'sa al-masiru
— Transliteration
O Prophet (Muhammad SAW)! Strive hard against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be severe against them, their abode will be Hell, and worst indeed is that destination

66:10
ضَرَبَ daraba Presents ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah مَثَلٗا mathalan an example لِّلَّذِينَ lilladhina for those who كَفَرُواْ kafaru disbelieved ٱمۡرَأَتَ im'ra-ata (the) wife نُوحٖ nuhin (of) Nuh وَٱمۡرَأَتَ wa-im'ra-ata (and the) wife لُوطٖۖ lutin (of) Lut كَانَتَا kanata They were تَحۡتَ tahta under عَبۡدَيۡنِ abdayni two [slaves] مِنۡ min of عِبَادِنَا ibadina Our slaves صَٰلِحَيۡنِ salihayni righteous فَخَانَتَاهُمَا fakhanatahuma but they both betrayed them فَلَمۡ falam so not يُغۡنِيَا yugh'niya they availed عَنۡهُمَا anhuma both of them مِنَ mina from ٱللَّهِ al-lahi Allah شَيۡـٔٗا shayan (in) anything وَقِيلَ waqila and it was said ٱدۡخُلَا ud'khula Enter ٱلنَّارَ al-nara the Fire مَعَ ma'a with ٱلدَّٰخِلِينَ al-dakhilina those who enter ١٠
daraba al-lahu mathalan lilladhina kafaru im'ra-ata nuhin wa-im'ra-ata lutin kanata tahta abdayni min ibadina salihayni fakhanatahuma falam yugh'niya anhuma mina al-lahi shayan waqila ud'khula al-nara ma'a al-dakhilina
— Transliteration
Allah sets forth an example for those who disbelieve, the wife of Nuh (Noah) and the wife of Lout (Lot). They were under two of our righteous slaves, but they both betrayed their (husbands by rejecting their doctrine) so they [Nuh (Noah) and Lout (Lot)] benefited them (their respective wives) not, against Allah, and it was said: "Enter the Fire along with those who enter
