69:1
ٱلۡحَآقَّةُ al-haqatu The Inevitable Reality! ١

مَا ma What ٱلۡحَآقَّةُ al-haqatu (is) the Inevitable Reality? ٢

What is the Reality

69:3
وَمَآ wama And what أَدۡرَىٰكَ adraka will make you know مَا ma what ٱلۡحَآقَّةُ al-haqatu (is) the Inevitable Reality? ٣
wama adraka ma al-haqatu

And what will make you know what the Reality is

69:4
كَذَّبَتۡ kadhabat Denied ثَمُودُ thamudu Thamud وَعَادُۢ wa'adun and Aad بِٱلۡقَارِعَةِ bil-qari'ati the Striking Calamity ٤
kadhabat thamudu wa'adun bil-qari'ati
— Transliteration
Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement]

69:5
فَأَمَّا fa-amma So as for ثَمُودُ thamudu Thamud فَأُهۡلِكُواْ fa-uh'liku they were destroyed بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ bil-taghiyati by the overpowering (blast) ٥
fa-amma thamudu fa-uh'liku bil-taghiyati
— Transliteration
As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry

69:6
وَأَمَّا wa-amma And as for عَادٞ adun Aad فَأُهۡلِكُواْ fa-uh'liku they were destroyed بِرِيحٖ birihin by a wind صَرۡصَرٍ sarsarin screaming عَاتِيَةٖ atiyatin violent ٦
wa-amma adun fa-uh'liku birihin sarsarin atiyatin
— Transliteration
And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind

69:7
سَخَّرَهَا sakharaha Which He imposed عَلَيۡهِمۡ alayhim upon them سَبۡعَ sab'a (for) seven لَيَالٖ layalin nights وَثَمَٰنِيَةَ wathamaniyata and eight أَيَّامٍ ayyamin days حُسُومٗاۖ husuman (in) succession فَتَرَى fatara so you would see ٱلۡقَوۡمَ al-qawma the people فِيهَا fiha therein صَرۡعَىٰ sar'a fallen كَأَنَّهُمۡ ka-annahum as if they were أَعۡجَازُ a'jazu trunks نَخۡلٍ nakhlin (of) datepalms خَاوِيَةٖ khawiyatin hollow ٧
sakharaha alayhim sab'a layalin wathamaniyata ayyamin husuman fatara al-qawma fiha sar'a ka-annahum a'jazu nakhlin khawiyatin
— Transliteration
Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms

69:8
فَهَلۡ fahal Then do تَرَىٰ tara you see لَهُم lahum of them مِّنۢ min any بَاقِيَةٖ baqiyatin remains? ٨
fahal tara lahum min baqiyatin
— Transliteration
Do you see any remnants of them

69:9
وَجَآءَ wajaa And came فِرۡعَوۡنُ fir'awnu Firaun وَمَن waman and (those) قَبۡلَهُۥ qablahu before him وَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَٰتُ wal-mu'tafikatu and the overturned cities بِٱلۡخَاطِئَةِ bil-khati-ati with sin ٩
wajaa fir'awnu waman qablahu wal-mu'tafikatu bil-khati-ati
— Transliteration
And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin

69:10
فَعَصَوۡاْ fa'asaw And they disobeyed رَسُولَ rasula (the) Messenger رَبِّهِمۡ rabbihim (of) their Lord فَأَخَذَهُمۡ fa-akhadhahum so He seized them أَخۡذَةٗ akhdhatan (with) a seizure رَّابِيَةً rabiyatan exceeding ١٠
fa'asaw rasula rabbihim fa-akhadhahum akhdhatan rabiyatan
— Transliteration
And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment
